Ah, but it is only two glasses of beer or wine. More than two glasses and now the negative effects start to show up and hard liquor wasn't in the mix for obvious reasons.
Apparently they are not obvious to the researcher though. She says moderate drinking improves longevity and I don't think we need any further explanation. What! She is obviously no scientist as I can think of several studies I would set up to find out why. Is it alcohol or is it other chemicals in those two drinks. Red wine clearly has lots of other chemicals in it that would be considered anti-oxidants.
Beer was once considered food long ago because of the way it was made. Lots of anti-oxidants no doubt. I don't think many of today's beers, especially light beers, would qualify. Only way to find out is a study with a control group, and a group drinking craft beers and a group drinking light beers for starters.
