Guys, I'm currently running a single belt for my alternator on the 440 in my '68 Newport with power steering but without a/c. My electric cooling fan(Mercedes) draws enough current to cause the alternator belt to squeal loudly in protest. Belts adjusted correctly, but I know I need to go to a dual belt alternator. What pulleys besides the alternator do I need to obtain to do this?

What type of belt are you using?

Reason I ask is that on the later 1970s Cadillacs with the factory 100amp alternator, the pulley was smaller than normal AND used a toothed/cog V-belt to run it. The "teeth" allowed the belt to better get around the smaller diameter pulley. Usually seen on cars with the electric rear window defogger.

Just some thoughts,
