Is this the long ram? long ram.jpg

I have yet to see it mentioned from supposed experts

http://www.chrysler300club.com/uniq/allaboutrams/ramtheory.htm

Allpar calls it cross ram though they do clarify it as long ram

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/413-dyno.html

and the engineer isn't around anymore so I have to go off of third hand hearsay

but dropping cross ram in to the googles results in nothing but Chevy inormation until the second page.

Not that it means a hill of beans to me, I'd go fuel injection before I spent money on long rams..

O.K. 67Monaco, Letz try this just one more time. Bob Rogers called Ronnie Householder(#1 Engineer in charge of all engine development at Chrysler from the early '50s up to his office and explained to him what he wanted in, I think the summer of 1954. Mr Rogers told Ronnie that Tom Hover and ah couple of the other Ram Charger guyz had been experimenting with sonic pulses by varying the length of the intake tubes on the High and Mighty drag car they were playing with at that time. Ronnie, In Highland Park waz in charge in that #1 position 'til he retired in either '71 or 72 when one of the Larry's took the #1 rains. Under Ronnies command were two primary engineers both named Larry. Last names were Gordon and Rathgeb. Plus several other engineers on the force including engineers from the injection lab up in Warren, Mi. that worked on the Ram program also. As for the articles written in the 300 club archives, Most of that information was pulled straight from the cooperation archives by a long time president of the Chrysler 300 Club Int, Inc. by a gentleman named George Riehl who iz no longer with us.The information supplied by John Veatch, long time president of the 300 club inc. Lone Star chapter to Allpar. Who just by chance haz ah set of the Long Ramz on hiz Red 1961 300 G convertible and residez in Houston,Tx. I'm not quite sure where John gleaned his information from, but I did supply John with my out riggers that support the J-K headers so he could measure and make copies of them but we've not talked about the Ramz specifically in our many conversations over the years. As for Allpar, Dave Zetz who iz Mr Allpar, sat at our dining room table and tipped St. Pauli's with me last summer and have known each other for a few more yearz then two! The three guyz that are no longer with us, Bob Rogers, Ronnie Householder, and George Riehl, I had numbers on and for reasons mentioned no longer have need of and trust me sir, I have the addresses and phone numbers on all the rest. Do I or will give out any of those numbers? Not ah chance in million, They're also friends and I respect their privacy. I'll be 75 yearz old come next Tuesday and I haven't lived this long by making enemies. Please have ah nice day Sir, Jer

Not trying to argue with anyone and as I said before it doesn't much matter to me either way. It's kind of like someone referring to a 350. Generally accepted as a Cheby engine but we all know there were others including ours. Posi, cheby. So it was my understanding cross ram was also cheby. Proper reference to mopar ram induction was always explained to me as long or shot ram. If it's cross ram great whichever. and happy birthday if we don't post about it between now and then.

Jer, I would give anything to sit on a porch on a warm summer evening with you and kill a bottle or two of mutually acceptable sipping spirits.
It's now at the top of my bucket list.

67Monaco. I wasn't trying to start an argument either and It's Important That I say that on the FCBO site for all to read and not in a P.M. to just you. I met Ronnie and both Larry's In '68 and have broken bread with all three several times over the years. I've been in both the Eastern and Western 300 clubz since the mid '80s when I met George Reihl who waz instrumental In helping me obtain the 300 Hurst that I owned for 16 yearz. And Dave Zetz hunted me down in I think in '05 or '06 because some how he found out I lived 3 miles from the Proving Grounds, we talked a few times and I made it ah bit easier for him the gain access to the Grounds thru' ah few folkz I know so Dave could do some interviewing and ?. Cameras are not allowed on the groundz all tho' I don't know how they police that policy with everyone on the planet carrying a cell phone today. Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes 67 Monaco. Letz you and I raise ah glass next Tuesday. It'll damn sure make me feel all warm 'n fuzzy. Happy Trailz, Jer
