Ok, here is my first really dumb thing I did today after working on cars since 16. Let's see if anybody can beat this one?

Yesterday I finished up with prepping the bed. Removed the last traces of paint and finished with my body filler work.

So now all I need to do is move the truck forward a bit in order to set up my 20' tent to contain minor paint over spray. My wife leaves the second driveway so I can move the big Merc out and then the truck about 20 feet. Then I will set the tent up and move the truck back in.

I get in the truck and warm it up all set to go. Put the truck into drive and hear the transmission engage but the truck doesn't move. WTH, I just moved it 2 weeks ago. Tried all the gears and it didn't move in any of them as I was just taking my foot off the brake. So I decided to step on the gas a little and still nothing until I noticed the speedo saying I was going 20 mph.

I stared at that for a moment and then the light bulb went on. Care to guess my problem?

Edit:
If you want to guess, as has been mentioned, then don't scroll down just yet.

So focused on one task that another went right past me.

I love it, that's hilarious!

We all have those moments. My last one was chasing down a high rpm fuel supply problem. I intended to blow backwards from the fuel pump inlet to clear the fuel out of the line, run some Seafoam backwards and let it sit a while. I was talking on the phone and ended up blowing about 80 psi through the fuel pump and carb inlets, shooting gas out the float bowl vents. Dumbass.
It fixed it though. I may have had debris blocking something.

that's great..........right up there with Stan's trying to start a car with no luck and then seeing his starter on the workbench.

I tried to start my boat one day and it wouldn't start,,I squeezed the primer bulb till it was hard as a rock and it wouldn't start,so I figured it was flooded and set about removing and cleaning the plugs, they were dry,,so I checked for spark, had plenty, started messing around with the 3 carbs because I wasen't getting any fuel,,this went on for a couple of hours,,I was just about to give up after I put the cover back on and just happened to look at the front of the motor and the damn fuel line was just laying there disconected, honestly I only had about 3 beers or so at this point, but I sure felt stupid even my neibhor asked if it ran on air,,,
