Anyone have an early 361, 383, or 413? I bought two forward look cars at an auction. One a ‘59 Saratoga with the two year only RB 383. Runs great but the car is rough. All of the lights work, wipers work, brakes work good, wipers work, horn works, cigar lighter, etc, etc. BUT the body is rough. The frame and body mounts have some rust. And now the posi rear end went out.

The other car is a ‘61 Fury. Very solid. Has its original 361 but it’s missing its top end and its condition is unknown.

I’d hate to take the Saratoga’s 383 when all it needs is an early rear axle. But its healthy motor would drop right into the Fury.

So, if there is anyone out there with an early rear axle OR someone with a 58-61 big block, let me know. Thx!
I’m in southeast Alabama.

I have a good used complete c body axle in the San Antonio Tx area. I have the 65 and later axle that most people prefer vs the orig with tapered axle shafts.

Yeah. The old navy fighter pilot had interesting taste. I’m not a JC Whitney guy but apparently he was. Side pipes on the Saratoga and those crazy rocket looking 90 degree pipes on the Fury.

I’m actually in the garage ripping the 383 RB out of the Saratoga and will install into the Fury. I’ll likely put those side pipes on it as well!

The daughter of the pilot said that he bought that Fury off of the showroom floor. Original keys, original tag… Check out the old binders and the dash mounted Sonoramic Commando emblem!

IIRC, Sonoramic Commando means crossrams?
If yes, and if original, that car is rare!
Crossrams were not common outside of the 300s, and obviously even rarer in a 4-door.
IIRC they could be had on 361 and 383 in the 'lesser' carlines such as Plymouth.

As cool as it would be, I’m pretty sure it isn’t a factory Sonoramic Commando Fury.

Top end is missing on what I’m guessing is a 361.

The one end looks like standard female SAE flare, similar to what is used on brake and fuel fittings.
The other end is new to me.

Are you still looking for a rear axle ?

I have an 8-3/4 rear axle from a 1960 Dodge.
Of course difficult to ship, located in OH.
