My bad on the blower mtr. Gasket. Should have said install w/ blower mtr.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought maybe you'd had trouble with the aftermarket gasket. I'll change it out.

I did check for binding, which is why I'm leaving it on Recir forever. The Fresh pot works perfectly all the way thru its travel and holds vacuum, but the Recirc (forward) pot doesn't pull from the full Fresh position (but does pull just fine once started about 30 degrees of movement) and does not hold vacuum but for about a second or two. So......it's full Recirc for me, and that new foamy sure does seal up nicely against the great outdoors.

I have the blower motor hose, it's in good condition.

Hey David! When you tie those harnesses back....I mean REALLY back and up....and damn housing goes in easy as pie. Pie, I tell you!

Thanks for that tip. All sheetmetal screws are in, and I put a 1/4-20 bolt at the far end to carry the load and compress that new gasket a bit. I'll be driving the car back to storage while I rework the box and didn't want that engine housing loaded in shear, bouncing around, etc.

Sounds like you got it under control. Be careful w/ your under dash heater box housing, the studs like to break off. If you have any problems PM me. The resin in the housing breaks down w/ age causing problems like that. Good luck. Dave

I've been approached by a customer with a similar request before, and I fixed the problem in just a couple of hours. I've always wondered why people leave their requests on forums but don't go to a professional. Don't you understand that you risk ruining your device permanently? If you don't want to trust your thing to someone else, but you want it to be always in working order? You can take a course and find more information about it. I think this is the best option in this situation. Why don not you do it?

What fun would that be? Trace could have certainly dropped it off somewhere and written a check, but there are more professionals on this board that know these cars inside and out and others that have learned from what he and others do. Besides, all the “professionals” around my area are kids that know little more than how to play video games and run diagnostic computers, which don’t work on a 50 year old classic.

Hard to police, they are a little slick but really full of crap. Bet it's a Pakistan IP.

Probably gets paid by the number of clicks to that web site, so don't go there... They know their time here is limited, but they'll make a few posts and see what happens. Maybe make a couple bucks or I guess it's probably rupees in this case.

When I saw the Superfly post before I had my coffee, I thought "Is he talking to me?" I know what the hell I'm doing 99.9 percent of the time, but occasionally seek experienced advice on the odd, outlier "once in a lifetime" tasks like we all do here. But this clown wants me to take a course about the AC in a 51 year-old car? The nerve of this newbie with his strange wordings. "Ruining your device permanently"?

To expand on SuperFly comments leaving you device to the pros. In this FCBO forum many of us are retired automotive repair professionals. I offer help to anyone on this forum based on there need and my 47+ years as an ASE Certified auto tech. The so called tricks of the trade have an invaluable impact on repairing cars that are 50+years old. These parts are sometimes not easily found if damaged. HVAC courses now barely scratch the surface of 50 tear old technology. I have met Trace 300 Hurst and his knowledgeable approach to repair is high quality, period correct. To quote Samplingman we do have professionals on this board that know theses cars, is certainly an understatement.
