Epic Whoops thread.

I am not a crane operator/pwner. but even I can see (before the inevitable incident) the setup doesnt "look" right.

Angles bad, cranes seem stressed, booms fully extended and off vertical (e.g., lift a 50lb dumbbell straignt up, vs. holding it extended straignt out perpendicular to your body, while standing on one leg), etc,.

I did have a client once who was an OEM manufacturer of heavy lift cranes. They knew and definately published what their equipment could/could not do.

Users violate those requirements at the risk of this stuff happening.

hope nobody got killed in these examples.

1999 – A Boeing KC-135R-BN Stratotanker, 57-1418, c/n 17549, of the 153rd Air Refuelling Squadron, Air National Guard, was undergoing maintenance at the Oklahoma ALC, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. When a civilian technician commenced a pressurization test using what some say was a home-built non-standard pressure gauge...

Once while I was in a gas station filling up my ‘71 Newport, a guy who looked to be in his 40s told me “nice Impala”.
That's what I'm thinking happened with the gal at registration. Probably just glanced at my slip and saw CHrysler IMPerial and self auto-corrected Chevrolet Impala and placed me into group 2(gm) not 3(Mopar).

I hate it when cars are misgendered. Time to take to social media and put them on blast.

I've had people ask my if my car was an Impala. I understand that, as I think the '69 Impala is similar to my '70 Newport.

It happened again on Independence day. I was returning to my home with some fireworks when I guy in a pickup pulled next to me at a light. He says, "Nice car; 454?" I said, "That's a Chevy motor." He said, "Yeah, well?" I said, "This is a Mopar; you think it's an Impala?" "Yes."

It doesn't surprise me anymore.
