No gaskets between the manifold and cyl head. Flat gasket/seal on the flanges, though. Seems that both are mentioned in this thread. The flanges can have either a beaded-shim metal gasket or the composition flat gasket, depending upon the brand preference of the installer . . . on the non-ball joint connection there.
Over time, the ball joint connections at the end of the lead pipes will rust and degrade, When I put the 2.5" '72 Chrysler "sewer pipe" single exhaust on my '67 Newport, the new pipes would mot seal against the rusted-surface OEM Y-pipe. The Walker Exhaust System Cement did not help, either. The FIX was a GM half-donut gasket we had in stock at work. Had a metal sleeve in the middle, with a softer outer donut (one side flat, one side curved) on it. The diameter of the sleeve slid into the y-pipe and the softer donut compressed to seal the new ball-joint side of the new pipe. QUIET! This was years ago and it's still there. Might need to check NAPA for that Chevy 3/4Ton exhaust manifold flange gasket in these times, though.
Enjoy!
