Export Formal?

Patrick, a couple of thoughts....I was thinking VON not the stand alone letter. Thank you.

However....I have yet to come across a '71+ Jefferson built car that even has the U, C or I on the tag. That makes me wonder how export Chryslers were coded. Did they carry the E, or another letter, in the VON in lieu of the I code to indicate an Export car?

I had a new Z-28 built in 1989 and had it delivered to Bermerhaven, Germany while I was stationed there in the Army. (About the fastest American made car at the time) No shipping charges and no taxes...and shipped back to the States in 1992....no shipping charges back either. It had an EXP code on the data code sticker and the window sticker.

Here are the build codes for earlier (and possibly '75 - '78 C-bodies) for the fender tag and build sheet:

Y05 Build to specifications for US
Y07 Build to specifications for Canada
Y09 Build to specifications for Export

Patrick, with the introduction of the U-C-I codes in '71, I don't think any plant continued to use the Y0* codes on fender tags.

In 70:

Jefferson (C plant) did not use the Y0* codes
Belvedere (D plant) seems to be inconsistent in the use
Newark (F plant) I have a pretty small sample size but from what I have, it does not appear that Newark used the Y0* codes either.
