I've been reading about the EZEFI system on the fuel, air, spark website. I guess it's from Comp Cams. It's a self-learning throttle body injection system. The basic system 30227-KIT with inline pump costs $2180. I also watched a u-tube video from Dave Freiburger, tech editor at Hot Rod magazine, where he installs the system on this 1970 hemi Coronet, 484 cubic inch. He endorses the system. Looks like his upgrade cost more like $3000, because he went for version 2.0 and replaced his distributor. Has anyone tried the basic system? How did it work out? Worth the money?
:sSig_thanks:

I have been eying the atomic system from MSD. I already have the distribitor and the digitial 6AL it says you need. Looks like 2500.00 or so. Completely self learning no computer needed to tune it and looks to come with everything needed. I watched a video on a 69 Nova where is gained 40 HP I think just with the system. Im just trying to justify the cost for a car I drive less then 50 miles a month, but I am so sick of my carb, its brand new and seem to be all over the place with such temp changes here in tx.

I read somewhere about refitting a GM/Rochester throttle body to just about everything. Looked like a lot less money, although you won't have all the flexibility of other systems.

And before you say "WTF? GM?" remember that Chrysler used Rochester carbs just before going to FI.

BTW, Rochester is now Delphi and not part of GM anymore.

My 85 Dodge Truck with a factory 360-4BBl had a Rochester on it.......... It did ok. When we built the 360 stronger I went with a thermoquad.......... Now it has a holley street avenger carb on it, and the thermoquad is on my 68 fury's 440.

Prolly better than a carbretor (English annunciation).

Sequential multiport... Muy bueno.. mucho modern..

I took a quick look. This is most complete kit I've seen, even includes distributor. Kit costs $3,549. The EZEFI is $2180. Compared to a nice carb intake set up for $600-700. Seems like a lot of money. Does the gain in performance justify the expenditure?

Um, f*ck yes. Unless you figured out a way to take it with you.

I can't take anything with me. I was just wondering if $207 for an Edlebrock Performer RPM intake and $314 for a new Holley 750 cfm 4160 was more cost effective than $3549 for a multi-point fuel injection system. I could buy a lot of gas for $3000, although I do get your point!

What's does an 80yo woman taste like? Depends..

If you're ok with a carb setup, or you want to stay as close to stock as possible, then it doesn't make sense. Me, I'm after a bit more drivability, better throttle response, and increased mileage. But that's just my perspective.

No, that's the point.
$3,000.00.
Let me repeat that. $3,000.00 in gas.
How many years of gasoline for that car are we talking?
And you can make NA engine run just as smooth.

In my case I would say 2 1/2 to 3 years. Im eyeballing an efi system too, just not for 3000bucks. Dont have that money laying around. I read an article where the efi improved mileage by 4mpg in a chevy nova. 15or so sounds lots better to me than 10.5 or 11. Plus the better cold starts and that it runs the same no matter the weather. My carb has this thing going on right now where i tune the idle and next day its off again so.... efi would save the headache.

If there is a carb which delivers efi performance and can be tuned that I get 4 mpg increase, im sold. I already cruise at an 15:1 afr and have the pump shot at leanest w/o stumble...

Depends. LOL and Yuk! I hope I never dive that age bracket.
