Because they belong here. It's an American pride thing. Whatever you spend is your business.
It's all about Americana ...... If they're not here we'll never see them again. History, heritage, American made. ...
just my humble opinion, I sort of hate to see the cars go overseas just because they are "that" farther away. However, we should compliment our fellow enthusiasts across the water for having good taste and sharing our interests in our cars. It's kind of a double-edged sword I guess. Not really related, but kind of reminds me of when the British cherished our American blues music in the early days, while we Americans ( for the most part) took it for granted and did not appreciate it like we should.

I agree......

I am one of the ones that doesn't want to see them cross the pond. That being said, i don't begrudge anyone buying one and doing as they choose with it.
i have never noticed anyone on this forum making harsh comments to oversees owners, and wouldn't agree if they did. if they are uncomfortable here i would say that's on them.
i also don't believe Europeans are more, or less honest to deal with than Americans. I deal with Canadians every day and they certainly are the same as us. some great and some not so much.

Just to close the loop on this sale, I reached out to three different people in the U.S. who expressed interest in buying this car. Each one of them gave me an offer for the car which I said I would accept. In the end though, every one of them backed out of the sale. I ended up selling it to a person in Finland who offered more than I was asking for the car and bought the parts car too. He didn't change his mind, either, in a couple days. This is why I do not really want to try and sell a vehicle in the U.S. anymore. Whenever I have sold a car overseas, when the person said they will buy the car, in every single instance they have followed through with absolutely no issues. This is why so many cars are leaving the U.S. and going overseas, I believe. The new owner has extensive experience in building trailers that involves considerable welding and felt the repairs to this car were very doable, and I sent him a lot of photos of the underneath to be sure he knew what he was buying. He has also restored a number of cars in his collection. So I am expecting to see this car restored to its former impact in the near future. That is a good outcome, I believe.

Sounds like the right guy got the car then. I always find it easier to buy than it is to sell, hopefully the car gets the resto it deserves.

Dave

Look at all the effed up cars ruined by morons, psychopaths, and mental defectives right here in America. A half hour on Craigslist has me wondering if people here in America are fit to own American cars.

Most of my cars in the last few years have gone to Finland (and some to Germany, and the same comments apply with them). And most of the guys that buy them restore them in short order and do a fine job, and I have never had an issue with any of them - not one. And they send me updates all the time so I can see their progress and I also see many of them in their cruise-ins (they send me videos of those as well). They genuinely love their cars, and it shows. When I sell a car in the U.S., which is rare anymore, I never hear from them ever again and have no idea what happened to them. So I would rather send them to Finland/Germany these days because I can see them again routinely, and each time looking a little better. And they are begging me to come over for a visit soon, so I would be able to see a bunch of them in the real flesh again too. And it is such a good experience with these folks, that I don't miss dealing with all the problems associated with selling in the U.S. That is just the way it really is. Folks in the U.S. are losing their integrity, sorry to say.

I rather see a car go across the world and be loved and taken good care of then have it here and have some retard go hog wild on it. We take them for Granted. They wont.

There is that crazy Finnish tradition where they make the car look like a rat rod and then drink and drive around with people on the hood, or at least that's what I remember someone posting about last year....

That's in Sweden, I suppose you mean Vasteras.

I'm sure there's a P1800S running around in the United States somewhere with 26" wheels and a Landau roof... :p

What do you have for sale for a nice Canadian?

Dave

What I mostly have left Dave are parts cars, as most of my complete nice cars that were for sale are now gone overseas. And there has been a bunch of them, really. If there is something specific you are looking for though, PM me and let me know what that is and I will see what I can do.

Its in good hands here Finland..... :) :)

Fortunately, I didn't see any of the ones I sold over there in that video. I should mention perhaps that most of the cars I sell over there go through a good friend of mine, who vets the people he recommends that I sell to. That could also partially explain my 100% success rate. Some like Matti were through direct contact though.
