I know Chrysler has a package trunk dress up kit but has anyone heard of a Fury having something for the spare tire. In the trunk of the 71 I just bought it found this in the trunk matches the trunk floor mat pattern.

The "Trunk Dress-up Kit" was usually black carpet with a matching black carpet spare tire cover. That is what was in the back of my '70 Dodge Monaco Brougham when I bought it unmolested used in 1975.

Might check the Dealer Order Guides (for your car) in the "Library" at www.hamtramck-historical.com (might need to manually input that address).

Back when I was looking for a spare cover for my '70 300, I came across those style covers being reproduced. For example, Legendary has them. 1962/1976 Chrysler Spare Tire Cover - 14"-15" Houndstooth - Legendary Auto Interiors They kind of piqued my interest at the time and I did a little searching.

I never could find any good references to what cars had them though. The only reference I ever found was they were listed as an option in the '63 Dodge station wagons. That doesn't mean they were used elsewhere, just all I could ever find. The trunk "dress up" packages in the fuselages were carpeted floors with matching carpet tire covers, so if they were used, I tend to believe they were in 60's cars.

I do believe that a cover like that was used in early Mustangs and Thunderbirds, but I've never seen one in a Chrysler product that I could say wasn't a reproduction. This one might be stock or it might have just made its way into the car because a previous owner liked it. I hope that someone has a good answer.

I don't have any pictures currently but my 74 New Yorker has molded black trunk carpeting on the floor, sides along each quarter and rear tail panel with a matching carpeted tire cover.
