Hi Everyone,

What do you think could cause headlights to flicker on a 1972 Chrysler NY? (maybe it's a New Yorker Interceptor)
the headlights will stay on for a minute or two, then they go off and back on again every few seconds.

Thanks.

Too much amperage draw causing the circuit breaker to "kick out" and then it cools and the breaker makes the connection again.

First thing I would do is check every connection for corrosion. Especially check the ones on the dimmer switch. Then disconnect the headlights one at a time to see if there's one causing the problem.

If it's a switch problem, I'd bet on the dimmer switch, but it could be the headlight switch.

Regardless... get it figured out ASAP. You don't want to risk a fire.

Put a relay kit on it to take the load off your switch/bulkhead/oem wiring. Light output improves a bunch with relays.

Send me a message if you want one of my kits built. It's fixed this issue on a lot of cars.

Thanks guys. I think I'll take the car to a local shop that works.primarily on older cars and have them do a bunch of stuff.....Otherwise I'll keep on getting distracted and will never get to the car, as has been the case for the past 3 decades.

Yep I've owned this car for a very long time. Fortunately it has been kept indoors most of the time I've had it. It's solid but has suffered from sitting and needs a lot of help right now.
