FM3 70 Fury

I have a feeling some people take me way to seriously.

But only because I thought to have heard that rumor once before minus the Suckwell part that escaped me first. ;)

I'd appreciate it if anyone could clarify a couple of things:

Was FM3 released as a color for C bodies?

If not...I notice this car is a Y39 K VON car. But for what reason?
If the color was not released for C bodies, wouldn't one expect to find a 999 paint code instead of FM3?
It would be unusual to find the actual paint code on a car for which the paint color was not released.

Regardless of the FM3 paint, it's also difficult to find a two tone car.

Interesting car.

I agree with you completly.
The "FM3" code on the tag made me wonder.
It is the only factory FM3 car I know of.
Haven't seen any paperwork it being available on any Cs.

I once saw a 70 Fury III CV for sale, factory FC7 car with badly faded original paint, tag showed the "999" code.
The car is stiing at murrays place, maybe he can sent you a pic of the tag. I saved it but the computer it is one is not running (since a longer time)

that would be very cool to see if you could get that info out of him. This is the only FM3 C I have ever seen. I have an FM3 340 duster and they put the FM3 on the tag just like the B bodies but I am not sure on the C's. I swear I did see a factory ad somewhere that had the color chart and it showed FM3 available on the C's, it was a plymouth one so it was Moulin rouge.

The wheels on this car are painted body color, which did NOT happen with cars with full wheel covers. That is suspicious to me.

True, it is unusual to find FM3, instead of 999 on an unreleased color.

I can ask about the Fender Tag if you want.

I was under the impression it was a Y39 special ordered car. K____VON etc.

Something else I caught...

the order form (on Nick's site) says the customer will pay for the special paint but there is no listing on the Window Sticker for special paint.

From another 1970 window sticker:

The wheels on this car are painted body color, which did NOT happen with cars with full wheel covers. That is suspicious to me.

It is mentioned on the site that "Originally ordered with full wheel covers but was built with painted wheels and dog dish hub caps. Dealer added the wheel covers before delivery".
Original buyer who ordered the car that way seems to have passed away last year at 90.

that would make sence why it has fm3 painted wheels.
This car has great documentation.

On the order contract it is written down that he is going to pay extra for the paintjob.

The Belvidere plant was not used to spray FM3 as they only assembled Dodge&Plymouth C-Bodies in 1970 on which that colour was officially not available.

Those who adjusted the machine for printing the tag in the plant might have not had that in mind and put on "FM3" instead of "999"?
As it wasn't available on C-Bodys they might have not thought about charging extra for it on the window sticker, too?

Just guesses and thoughts of "why"
