Good evening guys, Well I posted on here a couple weeks ago that I bought an old 63 newport that needed some work. I got her running and went to the BMV to get her plated, and I had an invalid title for the car, and the person who technically held ownership refused to sign apply for a lost title.

I bought the car off of a buddy of mine, he was going to restore it and sell her, but i convinced him to let me buy it from him. Anyways, he was a good man and took the car back. So I've been on the market for another old cruiser.

As my usual routine i got up yesterday morning and browsed craigslist. I found a guy with a horribly written ad for a 1966 Plymouth Fury II, but I thought I'd send him a text and see what happened. I was really surprised at how solid the car was. He seemed pretty honest, but limited on his knowledge of old mopar.

I went to look at the car today, it was just as solid in person and I couldn't pass the deal up. She has a 413, and appears to have a shift kit in the transmission, I got the car over to my brothers, and checked the rear end, its a sure grip, but I'm not sure what ratio it is. Front seat is a little torn, but I can deal with that.

Anyways I've rambled on long enough, I'll put a couple pics up of her. I've gotta paint the wheels, they're kind of a crazy color. I'll probably sell the wheels and put something different on.

Those wheels are perfect. Just paint them.

Exactly what I was thinking, Stan.

MoparScott, the 413 is cool. Is it just me or do some engine displacements just sound better than others (like 383, 413 and 426)? Did you read the engine pad to get the displacement, or go by the seller's word?

Wow, very cool car! Yes, paint the wheels or better yet, have them power coated in black like I did mine. They look great! I curious also about how you know it's a 413. Is it original to the car? Pull the back seat to see if the build sheet is there and also post the fender tag here so we can break down the numbers. Again, car looks great and nice find. Did you get a good deal? Looks like it's rust free!!?

I would leave the color alone.
That is so unique!
:socks:
It's way too cool! !!

The only V-8 engine choices for '66 Fury were 318, 383 and 440. If it's a 413, it's a transplant (not a bad thing, just not original).

Trying to remember here, but I am thinking that a 413 was never an option in a Plymouth. Even before 66 when the 440 came out, you had the choice of 318, 383 or 426.

I was thinking it may not be original 413 too. Not being a slab expert...not by a long shot, I've been waiting to see if anyone with more knowledge about them might have notice also. Whatever it maybe, it is still a great score.

Yeah, 413s wasn't an option and didn't come in a 66 fury. I'd be curious to see a picture of the engine pad.

Sorry it took me a couple days to respond to the posts. The car is definitely not an original 413 car, from what I can tell its actually an original 273 4bbl car. I decoded the engine pad and I believe its a 1964 413 from what I can tell. Its faded pretty bad, but I'll try to take some pics of it for you guys when I get a chance.

I found some paperwork from a previous owner, I'm trying to track him down and see what information I can find out on the car. I feel I got a great deal on the car, I only paid $1500 for her, and while pulling her home, someone already offered me $3000 for it.

I'm half tempted to keep the wheels on it too. What color would you guys choose? Gloss black? Gun metal? Anything has to look better than copper. The tires are dry rotted so I'm definitely gonna have to get new tires for it. I can't wait to buff the paint out this weekend, and start cleaning up the engine. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on here with my progress. I don't want to do anything too crazy with it, just clean it up and take care of it! I'm absolutely excited with my purchase though! Such a great cruiser!!!

This is me just getting her home!!!

i would go with the body color for the wheels. that's a real nice color.

Thanks, Thats what my dad was saying too, I think painting them the body color would look better than going black!

A 426 would be awesome! I'm going to tear into the engine a little tomorrow, I'll do some more research! It would be awesome if it were a 426!! I can see the numbers V41 really clear on the engine pad, everything else is pretty fuzzy looking

i would go with the body color for the wheels. that's a real nice color.

I'm with the Cat on the body color wheels .. that's a great color and very nice looking car Scott

Since you will be changing tires and probably painting wheels I'd think about getting a set of 15" steel rims or cop wheels if those are 14"
