Found a cool 1966 Fury

I guess GM had too much influence on me cause I would go with silver (argent silver) just my 2cents

LOL, You know guys ... the copper is growing on me, but I'm still going to paint them, or buy new ones. A friend was over helping me with the car tonight, and he was trying hard to convince me to leave them copper, or repaint them copper color!

For the time being I'm going to drive her on the copper wheels, but I'm not sure what the future holds.

Also I double checked. The engine is a 1964 413ci. We got it all tuned up today, and the fluids changed, I'll say .... she runs pretty hot! I had a heck of a time keeping her below 60 on the highway! I'm pretty sure I'm in love with this old car!

I vote body color on the wheels also!

Did you get the paint buffed out and all cleaned up? Post some pics!
:worthless_thread:

I'm just starting the process of buffing the paint out. I hit it with my buffer last night and it didn't shine up like I thought it would, so I'm doing a little more research. From what I can tell, its an older restore, looks to be single stage paint. I'm going to start off with clay barring it and go from there. I'll wet sand it if I have to. Does anyone have any good knowledge on how to bring the luster back? Its a metallic paint if that matters.

I did get the oil changed, new plugs, changed out the trans fluid and filter. I need to get a tach, because I swear it has to have 3.91 gears! I bought an edelbrock 750 and an edelbrock intake off of a guy this weekend, so I should have that installed soon. My dad and I are going to repaint the engine and clean up the engine bay while we are at it.

With the help of my pops, We've been getting a lot of work done on the Fury. It ended up being in a lot better mechanical shape than I expected considering it has been sitting for almost 2 years, and the previous owner knew nothing about old cars. I found a guy craigslist with an edelbrock 750 and an edelbrock high rise intake for sale, they were both brand new, and I really didn't want a high rise but for $350 shipped I couldn't pass up the deal. We power washed the engine bay and my dad repainted the block. I was able to use coke and aluminum foil to get the valve covers almost back to new.

The tires on the car were dry rotted so I decided to order new wheels and tires for the car. They're a little bigger than what some of you old school guys like, but they fit the car well, and it gives it a nice unique look. I still need to paint my hubs, but that'll happen soon. I've started wet sanding and buffing the car, but the paint isn't being as responsive as I like, so I'm going to continue researching the best method to get the shine back into the paint. Overall I feel we've made some great progress, I've got to order a new transmission pan, and put in a different power steering reservoir, and that will be all of my funds this year for her. On the bright side I think I'll be able to drive her to the Mopar Nat's next month!!!

I noticed your dual snorkel air cleaner. If I'm not mistaken, those only came on the factory 4-bbl cars (383/440). It may not look like much but don't throw it away... :) Very nice car, by the way.
yes that is a keeper. if your vin # is a j than it was a 440 car. that would be rare. regardless though a very nice find.

I prefer the Chrysler dual snorkel look. Maybe if you cleaned that up a bit it would look nicer. Nonetheless your aftermarket setup is very tastefully done. I like it. Has the previous owner seen the car now? I'd bet he'd want it back!

<<DO NOT trash that dual snorkle unit however!>>

Thanks for the compliments guys. I like the dual snorkel as well, but it won't fit with this intake, and I don't have the correct base for it, which I'm sure i could find. I'm not a huge fan of chrome on engines, I've been looking around for the factory valve covers. My brother coincidentally lives near the guy I bought my car off of, so I thought the next time I went to visit my brother, I might stop by his house and show him.

I have no idea what the purpose of the tread pattern is, its a little different. But there were some really good rebates on the tires, I like them though ... I definitely haven't seen anything like it.

I'm either going to keep it put back or sell it to someone that can use it for their car! none of my leftover parts go into the trash, you never know when you might need something!
