Found. Pics of my first cars!

My Gramps had a 66 or 67 Dart not real sure on the year, it definitely wasn't that cool though. They got T-boned in front of our house around 78, it was the end of the Dart.

Great choice you made in 67 when picking your first new car! Was it automatic or clutch?
I'd like to hear more on your racing days too.

Those are shackles which we do on our first cars when we are young and stupid to clear tires. Ought to know as I did the exact same thing on my car yet came to my senses four years later and got them outta there.

That and Gabriel Hijackers....

Traction bars too!

Very cool.

I'm curious about the D Dart package. What did it include? Cost? What times did you run?
Oh gawd... This was almost fifty years ago. I definitely remember it included a carb, dual point distributer, and cam. Hazy about exhaust, pistons, and rear.
My cost was free ( there's that Dick Landy connection again).
Times? 13 sumthin? I cant remember.
The one thing I certainly remember was going up against one 327 after aother 327. It was friggan non-stop.

It was an automatic. Racing days? 18 year old kid who worked in a gas station who drove his wannabe racer to 7-8 races total over a cupla years. Not really racing days. Lets not over glamorize this.
Will (bluefury361) was the true racer back in those days. Ask him about racing. It's another reason why he's on the You Suck list.

YES! And you know why I remember it? It dimpled just by breathing on it. Grrrr...
I'll try not to breathe on mine when I put it on my car! And I'll leave the dimples that are there already.

No traction bars but the air shocks were there. They have been long gone but if you look up under the right rear quarter you can still see the air valve for pumping air into the shocks. I left it there as a memory. The car also has it's 1972 San Diego State decal still on it. There are my puka shells in the glove box from 1974. My Churchill's, fins for body surfing, are still in the trunk since 1973. My first speeding ticket is also there from December 1969 along with the warning for doing 75 in a 35 mph zone in 1975. Once I got a company car, in 1973, time froze for my first car from that point on.

Sheesh they arent for handling. The black is to try to make them less noticable. Unless you like them to be chrome or safety yellow. However you can do without if you like having your pinion snubber violently smack your trans tunnel under hard acceleration , then go ahead and not use them. Dont say just use cal tracs. Those make for a very rough ride on a street car. Now talk to me about handling. How about a helwig G tech hollow 1&1/4" front bar and a helwig G tech 3/4" solid rear bar.

I disagree...

40ish year old pic... My car.

Stock Roadrunner springs... The ones with the extra half leaf on the right. No pinion snubber, not even the stock one. 9" slicks.

There's about 2-3" of lift at the rear. Front suspension is topped out. Note the planted wrinkle wall. With 10 1/2 slicks, the front wheels would be in the air.

Solid front bushings, and a clamp or two on the front section of the leaf. We set up three cars like this and they all left this way.
