Hi there... me again in Scotland.
I’m struggling to find lower ball joints for my ‘67 Monaco Wagon 383 2BBL

Kanter Auto has the whole kit for $852 plus shipping to UK & is exchange only.
I have been quoted £1,192 for the kit here in the UK!!!

Upper ball joints easily available.

Joints seem fine, but rubber boots perished so no grease holding or dust/weatherproofing. Someone advised elsewhere on the forum that 99 Dakota boots are the same but not what model & if it was successful.

*** > Mine has the factory 4 pot Budd Disc front Brakes.

Once again, any help & advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’d rather replace with new but my savings are almost gone on my beloved mopar & I don’t want to have to take off road or god forbid sell her..... which doesn’t bear thinking about!!!

As Ross mentioned the lower BJ's for disc brake cars are expensive....If your lowers are in OK shape but just need new boots then I would go that route and get a few more years out of them.

I have stashed away old NOS moog lowers for my wagon, but I had a PST front end kit and decided to use those up first even after hearing the lowers were not of the best quality. Even if I only got a few years out of them it's still more time that those rare NOS pieces can sit waiting for their time to shine, so far it's been almost 10 years. ;)

I'm at give years+ on my PST front end kit, I got one Rare parts lower ball joint (¢¢), looking for the other side. ($$)

The Budd disc brake only lower ball joints are hideously expensive unfortunately.
They are! Mine don’t seem worn just boots are falling apart. I just can’t afford or justify the prices I’m finding for the whole lower BJ! I’ve bought good, many whole roadworthy vehicles for less!

You could convert it to 69-73 style disc brakes probably for less money and have better brakes and more affordable and available replacement parts too.

What part of Scotland are you from? We were in Edinburgh in September.

Thanks for that, very useful advice indeed - I’ll definitely look into this.
I used to live in Edinburgh for 16 years, we now live very rurally in the Scottish Borders in between Duns and Chirnside.
I’ve owned my car for a 1 1/2 years and have never seen another older American car on the road at the same time as me let alone a C Body of any description.... ever!

We went to the vintage rally at Sunderland Hall near Selkirk and The Wheels and Wings Show at The National Museum of Flight before we left.
There was a red 70 Fury in the parking lot there. Not sure why it wasn't in the show.

Had a great time and hope to return soon.

I wouldn't count on availability on 69-73 disc brake parts. I had to look for a while to find calipers. My rotors are good so I didn't need to buy them. But I didn't see any online at the parts stores. It may be better to rebuild them if the pistons are in decent condition. The seals are available. Don't toss your old ones, they may be restorable.

I'm in Fargo ND tonight and checked Autozone store site. Left and right calipers in stock $35 each.

Thanks all, I’m now looking for brake discs but they weren’t fitted as standard.
Mine is a period factory upgrade to the Budd 4 piston set up so I amazingly found the Calipers & pads here in the uk but now looking for discs but no idea what part number or interchangeability with later models is?

Any help gratefully received as always!

thank you

The Imperial Club was supposed to have had DuraBrake do a run of these rotors.

One of their members has a procedure to make a Toyota Supra rotor work.

The " C " Body with Disc (1967 - 1968) Lower Ball Joints are sadly R & R -- only --- (as in rebuild and return)
One of the front end outfits in California opens them up --- puts in New balls and sockets --- and closes them back up....
They have NO "Cores" however; yours or somebody's units would have to be rebuilt....
The drum brake ones DO NOT fit --- they do not go
"around" the 4 - piston caliper......
Yours, Craig.
