Frustration with Rock Auto: Reality Check for Me?

Using rock auto is like going to most aap or az. You tell them the part and car they put that in computer and tell you its NA, will be here to marrow or its a special order and will be here 2-3 days depending on weekend. Rock auto just eliminates the kid standing behind counter, you look part up on computer the part that shows up at your house or the part that shows up at those stores neither may be correct, at least I see a picture on rock auto.

I have ordered my fair share of parts through rockauto...never really had any major issues. The did send me an E-brake cable with the ends switched around on it. They sent me a new one to replace it at no charge.

I too use their site mostly for reference material. Then search the part out on other sites. I usually end up buying the parts on E-bay, since if I buy the parts through the Canadian Airmiles site..I get airmiles too!!! A little FYI for you Canadians out there...;)

With all my old cars that come with mostly no more available thin silver or anodized wiper blades I usually get a NOS set at a swap meet, usually for cheap and just replace the old rubber with sets that are readily available to cut down to fit.

I just had issues with them too. Ordered some wheel spindle caps and they were not the correct size. Same caps where listed under a bunch of years and different makes models ect. TheY say it was my fault and i have to pay for shipping cause they were listed under "base" model while i just wanted to inform them that they had the wrong part listed. Anyway, i kept the parts and will not order from them again. Huge inconvenience and crappy customer service.

Contact credit card company and challenge the charge due to shipping the wrong part. May want a letter and you can spell out how it was the wrong part. Then Rock Auto will have to respond to their information request within a certain time frame and provide proof the part was correct. A tougher road for them to hoe and they may pass.

After I couldn't deal with chains anymore out of disgust, I became a RockAutoholic. It took a while but I finally realized they weren't worth it except in a few cases. Went back to chains and with couponing and price matching, I do better dealing with the local chains again.
