Trying to get the gas gauge working.

Bench tested the gas gauge and it is dead (tested the temp gauge and it is working correctly).

Searched for a replacement gauge to no avail.

Will try an after market gauge for near term (don't want to run out of gas again, I am usually pretty good about filling up, but have found my self stuck on the side of the road because I thought I had put gas in recently)......

I measured the fuel send wire and am reading 90 ohms (tank is full).

Is there a diagnostic to determine that the sender is bad, before I have to pull it form the tank?

Thanks

You should have 74 ohms resistance when the tank is empty, 10 ohms when it's full and 23 ohms at mid point.

You are having issues with the sender, wiring, and/or ground.

How did you bench test the gauge?
