Gone at age 95. One of my favorite actors, in some my all-time favorite films. Hoosiers, Crimson Tide, French Connection, Unforgiven, et. al., .

Circumstances of his passing getting sorted out but a bit vague/odd at this time.

man, this situation keeps getting more and more strange. info coming out in drips/drabs looks damn peculiar.

of course i didnt know this man personally. we (fans) sometimes think we know our favorite stars like that (because we like their work) -- but we dont. they're just people .. rich, "famous", but living ives as flawed/screwed up as anybody else's.

still, i fear when this man's death circumstances come out (police investigations, people/animal autopsies, TMZ, podcasts), will somehow shock us all/degrade his considerable body of work.

:(

like watching a slow motion car crash where people are gonna get hurt... you wanna look away but you cant.

No RIP for him for a bit longer i think till the mystery of his death is "solved".

If I had to bet, she dropped dead while going for her meds. He panicked and fell.

The dog turned out to be in a crate, so it probably starved to death.

yeah, if its proven to have been days/weeks since they died (one calamitous incident after another, vs. truly suspicious event(s)), the one dead doggie didn't have a chance in those circumstances.

Tangent alert: I should put this in guilty-pleasures.:)

I saw French Connection (snuck into a "R" movie) in jr. high school and thought Hackman's character "Popeye Doyle" was the coolest cop ever.

I thought his "pork pie" hat was so cool I wore a couple all through JrHS and SrHS until sophomore in college (some girl I was "wooing" said stop wearing it .. or else i would be going back to the dorm. Alone).

The more crap I took for it (an old man's hat), the less I cared. I thought I was different and cool. Like ole Popeye Doyle.

Over 52 years later, I have watched this hat tyle come/go. Three times, maybe. Rappers, actors, pop stars, hipsters, etc..

Guess what this FCBO "old man with a hat" still sports (thats not me, but I got three hats like it. little feathers and all)?

I hop outta the Flying Whale, I am more likely to get "Hey old man, nice hat!!" from a young'un. Why? They dont know what hell that car even is, but they know that hat (Bieber, Timberlake, et.al.,). :poke:

Whether is a leading role on film or as a supporting actor Hackman brought that something extra to that role. Given he is a two time Academy Award winner. Here is my shortlist depending on my mood. Reds, The Replacements, The French Connection, Class Action, The Quick an the Dead, The Firm, Runaway Jury, Behind Enemy Lines, and Unforgiven
