R.I.P..

Love the Munsters!

Dean Jeffries built the Monkee Mobile and the Black Beauty. George took credit for them... something he was fond of doing as he got older. His brother Sam was a true artist... He built the Hirohata Merc and the Ala Kart when he was working with George.

As a promoter, George was the best and did a lot of great things for the hobby. The first car book I ever bought as a kid (and still have!) was a George Barris customizing book.

He will be missed.

His first shop was in South Gate California, as a kid my father lived 1/2 mile away and recalls many of the classic customs being built there.

To the Point. I might add that Pontiac wasn't at all happy with the rather silly way the Monkeemobile turned out according to the memoirs of Jim Wangers.

Yes, and the promotion that Kellogg did with their corn flakes was the only thing that saved the day.

I remember all the hoopla about the Monkee Mobile. It was everywhere.

RIP. I didn't know he built the General Lee or the Beverly Hillbillies car. Amazing guy & life living 10 days short of 90. What a run.
