How come I'm not seeing any pics in your last 2 posts?View attachment 127066
Ok... we're in Chrysler colors again and nearing reassembly. All mating surfaces are ready, just have to clean all fasteners, build the carb and dist and we're good to go... I think?
Oh nice! I'm seeing them in my replies but can't in your originals. The whole point of this lil excursion.

Oh yea. Only thing I'm waiting on is consumables.. Got another week till I can afford gas, antifreeze, oil and the like. Debating on whether I'm going to wait to build the carb till I'm sure all the crap gas is out of the tank.gaskets ready?
Well, someone already installed a pre pump filter as well ... Honestly, I'm considering eating the hours and dropping the tank. After all this, seems silly to wuss out now!Why not temporarily install another fuel filter that can be removed after you're sure the lousy gas has been used up, then your Carburettor isn't affected. The other option is to drop the tank and flush it out then reinstall, but a fuel filter is cheaper - depends upon the condition of the tank, as it seems risky not to clean it out considering the trouble you're going to rebuilding the engine.
Best of luck and happy motoring whatever you choose to do.

What do y'all think? Flush or replace? I mean, I'm not made o money but really, once pulled, flushed and treated, wouldn't it just be better to snag a new tank?
I think you will be glad you did...
I don't get the feeling that there is any rust in the tank, honestly. Pretty sure it's gonna be goopy as all get out but ... meh, we'll see.take a gander when you actually get it out. if it's REALLY rusted, then I reckon you will need a new tank. if it's just surface rust, you may be able to flush it and coat it. kind of a subjective thing once you drop it.
A good use for ethanol gasoline... should be the perfect solvent to get anything dissolved enough to clean out of there.I don't get the feeling that there is any rust in the tank, honestly. Pretty sure it's gonna be goopy as all get out but ... meh, we'll see.
then I can use the wash out to light a righteous bonfire.. that stuff is good for something!A good use for ethanol gasoline... should be the perfect solvent to get anything dissolved enough to clean out of there.
