Accidentally got over spray on my vinyl top. anyone know how to get it off? I didn't notice it until the next day!!
:BangHead:

Enamel reducer on a rag and gently try a test area first. If it is lacquer then lacquer thinner. I have been trying to find a product that works better and longer for protecting my vinyl roof cars. Last week I tried a Vinyl floor wax on my hot tub cover. Its a perfect test especially on a cover that is almost 10 years old and is outside year around. I applied two coats as described and I like the results so far. The color is significantly brighter and it does now have a gloss finish to it. Time will tell how long it will last but this might be the next best thing to the former Turtle Wax Vinyl Top Wax.

This is only about reconditioning/protecting, not removing stuff, but I've been using 303 Aerospace Protectant off a tip from these boards (78 NYB I think). Made my vinyl top look brand new, water and dust just roll right off.

I was thinking Mr clen miracle eraser or WD-40. Maybe even a soft scrub brush with soap and water!!?

I would try a mild detergent and a scrub brush first before adding any chemicals to the mix. Some chemicals will eat away at vinyl.Your best bet is if your unsure, call an automotive paint supply store and ask them.I'm sure they would know exactly what to use.I had a relative use Fantastic spray on a vinyl top years ago.Needless to say,the top eventually looked like someone took a match to it.If your unsure about using something, try testing it out on a junkyard car first! Good luck

Eastwood Rust Encapsulator

It ain't coming off....

  • Twice the corrosion resistance of our original formula for greater durability (tested to 500 hours in a salt-spray chamber)
  • Epoxy-fortified for better adhesion and topcoat compatibility

Thanks guys, I'll try a soft scrub brush first and see what happens. I thought I had it taped off really well, but I guess not..!

Well, I ended up using a kitchen scrubby,.the ones with a scotchbrite on on side and a sponge on the other. I also used Palmolive dish detergent and warm water and scrubbed lightly. It must have been a light overspray, because it came off. I lucked out. I'll make sure I tape off better next time.

You got very lucky, it ate through the paint on my car.

I hear ya. I was worried. I guess if all else failed I could have gotten the top painted or dyed, but it's ok.

I'm going to protect it now. What do you guys use on your tops?

303 Convertible Top Cleaning and Care Kit. It's for vinyl tops too.

Problem for me is I need a new vinyl top....LOL!
