Hello fellow C-body enthusiasts!

Been lurking for a while and felt that it was a good time to introduce myself and more likely the new love of my life.

I had been toying around with the idea of getting a muscle car and thought that the newer Chargers and Challengers would be fun, but also expensive. Then while browsing the local cl this unknown beauty showed up, and less than a month later it was mine!

Good repaint and a strong RB 440 c.i. engine! However, currently it has super comp headers on it and nothing else for an exhaust.
Sounds like the world is coming to an end when I gun the motor, which is just a bit much for the weekend cruiser I want.
Brakes are also a soft, so those will be the first mechanical things I go after.
Some jerk tried to screwdriver their way into the trunk just before I bought it, so currently the trunk is filled with mystery items from the previous owner!

Looking forward to conversing with everyone on here on all my little big car problems in the coming months!

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Very nice coupe you've got there, can't wait to see more of it.
What you need to do is take out the rear seat and send a thin young man into the darkness to pop the trunk from the inside. Are you near Hinella NJ??

Hello from Minnesota! That's a sweet ride, gotta be one of the best looking body styles.

Hi,

welcome I remember it from Missouri Craigslist were it was advertised for 8k.
I like 300s without v-roof.

Have fun&enjoy

Carsten

Yes, I found it on the KCMO Craigslist site. Never looked at ebay, so not sure if it was advertised there. I paid much less than 8k for it.

Oh, its a 1970 Chrysler 300 2 door hardtop, if that wasn't already metioned.

Best news so far, got the garage cleaned out and it fits. Barely!
More pics to come once I've got some time!

Has anyone here used a regular (Midas, Pep Boys, etc.) car shop for just getting some exhaust work done? Is that a bad idea given the age of the car?

Any muffler shop worth their salt should be able to have you in and out in less then an hour doing a factory correct dual system 'cuz all the pieces are out there to be had. It's all a matter of cost(Where do you save the most ...or spend the least) Slick '70 BTW, I Love 'um. Oh and Welcome, Jer

It is not worth the too high a risk. Those chimpanzees running loose in the shop area don't know how to properly hang an exhaust system. Everything will be welded as one piece from manifold to exhaust tip and hung with universal 9-way hangers bolted through your floor pans.

What part of Kansas are you in? I may be able to recommend an exhaust shop.

The complicated part about exhaust on a C body is getting the bends correct on the driver side from manifold past the transmission and around the torsion bar. I've had those 'regular' shops do everything from removing kick down linkage for clearance to welding the pipes directly to the body.

KcImperial, I'm located out in Gardner in Johnson County, 25 minutes from anything in or around Kansas City. Any and all recommendations would be welcome!

Great information from everybody so far!
