Happy halloween

I'm still trying to figure out when Halloween became a National holiday where the celebration starts Labor Day and is overlapped by Christmas displays staring in mid-October...

The roots of "all Hallows eve" go way back into history, I read sometime ago.
I don't care. We didn't worry about our costume until the week of Halloween, went Trick or Treating for a few hours, and went back to raking leaves the next day. Come, on!!! Halloween DEPARTMENTS going up on Labor day???
Money, money, money....

There's an old.abandoned Victorian type house near the NJ turnpike but further back in the woods that is proported to be haunted by previous owner (old women and her cats) who lived way back in the day. She died in the house and her family kept her remains in the basement until the.funeral.which was.held in the parlor room (supposedly...I wasn't there). There's going to be seances there on devils eve (mischief night) and on Halloween. Thinking about going just for shits.and giggles.

I know people are stuck in their ways here in this part of the country but, no such things as ghosts. I had a hard time getting my aunt to try and grasp that. Sad really.

No such thing as God.
Ghosts and spirits? Yes

Capitalism. Good or bad. It is stupid, yes. So just try to ignore all that garbage and have fun.

I'm not a big Halloween fan. It's just not a big deal for me.

But..... We did a cruise to Bermuda last year and spent Halloween on the ship. That was fun.

Some of the costumes:

While the first reference to "guising" in North America occurs in 1911, another reference to ritual begging on Halloween appears, place unknown, in 1915, with a third reference in Chicago in 1920.[SUP][15][/SUP]
The earliest known use in print of the term "trick or treat" appears in 1927

I know all about its roots and origin.
Doesn't answer my question, tho...

Yup. My mom went thru all my halloween loot before I could have any of it. Looking for razor blades and needles and stuff.
