After looking around for details of the 53 to 67 A block engines I am happy to have found C Bodies.

I am probably kind of a 'special guest' within your group, as I do not own a Chrysler car, but a boat with a Chrysler engine. This one I built in the early 80ies and was happy to find the Chrysler Poly engine, supplying a lot of torque at low revs. Its reputation to be very reliable convinced me.

After having had a lot of fun with the boat, it was stored in a barn for a long time. Now I am trying to get it back into the water. Unfortunately it suffered some damages during all those years.

Finding information and spares for this engine became a challenge. But I am sure with the knowledge of this group I will get there!

Very nice project. welcome. I once had a poly with iron dual quad intake, I was told it was a marine application. That was many years ago.

Welcome from Brownsburg. In. Poly parts are out there. PM me if you run into trouble.
Thanks for the welcome and for your kind offer.
For the moment I am trying to solve the valve tappet issue. Some hydraulic tappets leak to a level, that they barely lift the valves. Mopar No 2808569 seem to be correct replacements. Unfortunately those are very hard to find.
There are suitable adjustable rocker arms on the market. Non hydraulic tappets are apparently way easier to find. Making the conversion would be an option, in case there is no better choice. The engine runs only about 50h/season. I.e, the clearance could be checked in the annually maintenance routine.

Thanks for the link. I will try....
Your link already helped me to find out, that the adjustable rocker arms fit the same shaft as the non adjustable ones. This enables me to make the conversion, in case I can not find suitable hydraulic tappets.

Check for a worn off camshaft lobe. As for a parts source Check out Kanter Auto parts @kanter.com.

Thanks for your reply, David. The cams look good, so does the lifters convex surface. As I interchange the lifters, the problem follows.
I just had a look into Kanters Website. They have lifters, apparently suiting the engine. Their geometry is slightly different. They don't have the tapered surface, typical for the Polys inclined rods.
