1. The original setup on the Newport is a buzzer sounded when you left the car with the lights on. Now the buzzer sounds continually when I am driving the car and turn on the lights. All the doors are closed tightly. Where should I look for this electrical problem? It never happened before.

2. Does anyone know a shop that rebuilds electrical parts like the headlight delay relay? Sure would like to get this option functioning again.

No, I am sure the two things are not related. After all, the buzzer never sounded when driving when the lights were on either before or after the headlight delay relay was installed.

You should be able to buy a new headlight delay relay on places like eBay.

I'd look at the drivers door jamb switch first for the buzzer problem, but it could be in the buzzer itself. IIRC, it returns ground from the door jamb switch to sound the buzzer.

As John noted, the buzzer is going to ground either because a door switch is shorted (Usually the dome lights will stay on if that happens) or the contacts in the buzzer have stuck causing it to run all the time. You can get rid of the buzzer by unplugging it so you can drive in peace. I always found those buzzers to be a bigger annoyance than they were worth.

As a matter of fact, the interior dome light stopped coming on when the door is opened- not continuously on as grounding out would do. So I would tackle this first.

Don't think it is the buzzer itself as it does not buzz when the lights are off.

Never thought I would be able to find another new headlight delay relay on E-Bay or anywhere else. I will sure look!

Thanks! I was afraid it was going to be a complicated wiring problem!

So do I! That's why I wanted to keep the buzzer connected. However, the headlight delay relay was a neat option for headlight turn-off as well!

You might look for a wiring schematic for '72 or later and see how the buzzer wires-in with the normal "front lamp" wiring harness and the other wiring. Might even be a Chrysler MasterTech "New Product Information for 1972" that details it?

If the dome lamp switch fails, it'll usually keep the dome lamp on all of the time, as I understand how it operates. What position is the manual dome lamp switch in (on the instrument panel)?

Just some thoughts,
