Yes, but NEW junk.

Once one removes the cheap points and condenser, the cast case can serve well enough. I like little details like them making a couple flat surfaces to abet gripping the casting inb a vice, an extra groove for an O ring to better seal it into the engine block too. They supply a cheap vacuum advance which gives a little modest advance when cruising, and a pretty standard and close to OEM mech advance, which worked nicely on a VatoZone Special rebuilt unit I got for $34.99 when I saw how the venerable unit that came with old Mathilda visibly wobbled as I spun the motor for a compression check.

I since learned to rebuild old distributors meant for mid 1960s B/RB engines, so will never need to rely on Cardone products again, but for a new owner, not familiar with tool or shop procedures, these sino-sloppo units can enable an engine to run decently until one can do better. The summer of 2018, I had a crew of 4-5 fellow agitators/canvassers who I ran out of Mathilda around town with a Car-DON'T mal-distributor. The condenser failed 10 days after installing the thing, but after that it saw us through to the November elections....
wel since i posted my call for help i have fowarded all to the guy dong the work as im no longer capable to do it thamls for all hr imfor bu i may be this weekend be fore he has time it use o be just me & him bu thanks to all my braggig on hm now everyone wants his help former guys rom the sails dept in the dealership he use o work @ to usins to help them with their cars i allmost cant talk to him + he has a old chevy truck to keep on the rooad (his dead dads) &2 othe clacc mopars (1 b body & 1e body)

He schooled me well enough to rebuild my own now. Bless him!
i wish we had the distributor machine they had ib washingtom high uuo shop . no one wanted to mess with it but my cousin . betting the old distributor aprt isnt th issue but finding th parts to pu in them . i can't find the bushingsir the parts for the internals of the distributor

Cardone is a decent rebuild but they set the curve to WORK in a spread of motors usually around ten years so can be great in one motor and a dog in another. I just strip them for parts since there is no number on them.

You know, the rebuild I got on their brand from VatoZone is a rebuilt CARDONE distributor. The vac advance on that was purely decorative. The new one I bought 2 yrs later had only the model number: 84-3817, but that is laser etched into the casting.

Of course, the criticism remains valid; designed to make the broadest range of B block engines run as possible, they seldom will run optimally. One note, the 4 barrel Edelbrock Performer 1405 carburetor on the old stock intake manifold with the Cardone distributor snapped lively enough with a Delco 500 coil and a Mopar ballast resistor, until the points burned down after a month.

That noisy Delco coil, despite being designed for Mopar engines, w the correct impedance of 1.6 ohms may have been the cause of rapid point consumption with my engine or not, IDYK. I replaced it w a new Taylor coil, upped the ballast resistance to ~1.6 ohms cold, to keep circuit impedance constant, w the Taylor coil offering only .7 ohms. This reduced the coil voltage nicely to just over 7 volts w the engine running at temperature.

Yeah the wonders of the new 'net, Is he using a speech to text and hasn't trained it?
A phone with that Google speak? I seen people use us it even with a heavy Louisiana accent and it works, I don't know what it would look like in text thou.
A phone user with predictive text/spelling turned on and no proofread? (that's pretty much the standard today with the younger generation)
Thumb type'r?
Boggles the mind...

I’d like to help the old feller out, but, short of driving to his place, doing the work and paying for the parts, what can be done?
He says he can’t physically perform the work or afford to buy the parts.
His cousin is a mechanical genius but is too busy. Every bit of good advice has been responded to with…gooblygook.
He has a YouTube channel that features the car and a video of him up on the roof of his house putting up a homemade ham radio antenna 3 months ago.., ‍♂

You asked for help. Exactly what would you have us do, given your situation?

I hate to say it but it’s like a pity party. You gotta find someone reputable and old school or knows old school ways to work on these cars if you can’t do it yourself.

I work on modern Lincolns for my day job, these cars, especially C-bodies are a dream to work on compared to say a 2022 Aviator.

Physical limitations are one thing, and I get it since I mind my back all the time, you do what you can, but if you can’t then you need a trustworthy person.
