On a 20,000 dollar car you tell them so? Or you have the seller write down 11,000 on a bill of sale?

As for selling, you might want to wait a month or two for the warm weather. I would guess something north of $5k would be fair, especially with the history.

As for any potential buyer not in the area, I will be glad to do an impartial assesment for anyone interested. I’m about 45 minuets from the car and can easily crawl around with the camera and take as many pictures as you like.

Thanks, James, for your offer, I appreciate it. I haven't begun to advertise the car; waiting another couple of months was the plan; there is no rush. As for trading for the black '70 300...while the black 300 is an absolutely awesome, fantastic, gorgeous, sublime, stunning and desirable machine, I'll pass because my goal is to leave the hobby.....

It is hard to place a value on your integrity. I do my best to not lie about anything.

Yes, I have never asked a seller to write down the price. The most I have ever paid for a car is $17000. I paid the sales tax on $17000. All the cheaper cars, I did same. Part of it comes from my version of integrity and part of it comes from being an accountant, who will never alter numbers, (see Arthur Anderson/Enron).
I also have a policy of not judging others, as long as they do what's right from their hearts. Ben

Funny story about paying less sales tax...

My son sold a Saab convertible to this woman that insisted he write a receipt for $100 so she could dodge the sales tax on an $800 car. The car went through oil like crazy, hence the cheap price. He warned her about it, but she didn't listen. Two weeks later, she ran it out of oil, blew it up and was really mad.... Called him up demanding her money back.

Of course, he asked about checking the oil and she said "Oil? Yea, the mechanic said it didn't have any oil in it" and then she got even madder... Said she was going to take him to court and wanted $800 back. So he said "Go ahead... and remember to bring the receipt for $100 with you". She called again, said she was having the car towed back to his house and wanted her money, because that's what her lawyer said to do. He told her to have her lawyer call him and be sure to show him that $100 receipt too... and if she showed up, he would call the cops.

Never heard from her again.

Update on the sale of the Chrysler: I'm kind of revisiting my plan. Now I'll sell it only if I'm absolutely, unequivocally guaranteed she's going to a good home. It may take longer than initially anticipated but it will prevent some effin Jerk Off from pulling the drivetrain for a rinky-dink B or E. Too many A-Holes still doing that... For this very reason, I'd rather see the car leave for europe.

a lot of folks in Europe love these cars. see lots online. and you have that big ol 440 in your corner as well. hope it finds a good home or you come to your senses and keep it lol. I threw headers, roadrunner cam & a TQ on my 400 2bbl got it breathing real nice but there's nothing like a 440.

I'd really like to get out of the hobby altogether but it seems that once you have old cars in your blood, the disease never really goes away...you only get very brief reprieves from it from time to time.

In any event, I'm still considering letting the Chrysler go but only if I feel assured she's going to a good home.
