The last time I put down the windows, the passenger front window didn't go down. I heard the window motor move the mechanism down, then in a delayed reaction the window slowly moved down into the door. I thought the roller came off the track. But when I looked inside the door I see the track fell off the glass. I ordered the plastic track retainer rivets from R/T specialties. I saw them posted here on another thread, so thanks for that. Before I take the door panel off I wanted to know if this a staight forward installation. Does the rivet just snap the track onto the glass using the hole in the window glass? Any help will be appreciated.

The rivets in the lower part of the window glass are a two piece design. There is a collar that goes into the round holes in the glass and there is a stud that pushes or screws into the collar. It usually not a difficult repair although getting any broken remains of the stud out of the collar can be challenging. I generally use a 16 penny nail that has been cut in half to push out the stud from the back side of the window. While you have the inner door panel off be sure to check that the plastic guide block on the forward edge of the window at the bottom has not broken off, as this is a common cause of the track rivets breaking. If the window is out of the front track, the block is probably broken and will need to be replaced.

I just had this happen to my wind up front window on my 69 and Dave is 100% correct. If you're lucky it will be a plastic lug and a short screw. Pull the panel unscrew the broken lug then line everything up and carefully feed the block back on the track. Be sure and take this opportunity to lube everything. Dry grease can also cause sticky window operation. It's a 20-30 min job tops. I just used spray lube like for a bike chain ( wd40 is not a lubricant ). They'll work like magic once oiled up. Sorry for my crappy pics.
