Hemi C bodies?

Never heard of it... any further info?

It never existed all folklore. There were 300 M promotional badges that went out to dealerships for the '66 model year, so that probably at least help support the rumor. 1965 L was of course, the last lettered 300. I was trying to find one of those badges to show you, but maybe it actually sold, it had a price of $850

The 426 had just came into production in '64, so with the history of the 300 and the Hemi it was believed if there was going to be a 300 M it would have a 426 under the hood.

I just wish there was a prototype in a museum, but it looks like it never materialized in any form.

go to allpar under hemi, supposedly exists..

Thanks here it is.

Mike Sealey wrote: There is a 1966 Chrysler 300 out there with what appears to be a factory-installed 426 hemi, something most historians say never happened in C-bodies. According to Chrysler historian Jeff Godshall, there was last minute discussion of not dropping the letter series 300 after the L in 1965; a plan was drawn up for 500 1966 300-M models powered by the 426 Hemi, but was withdrawn when marketing research suggested there might be a problem selling even that small number for the price Chrysler would need to charge. The prototype still exists, and while it is not badged as a 300-M, numerous trim details are different from the garden variety 1966 300 Sport Series. It’s known among 300 fans as the “1966 300-M(onkeypuzzle).”

Frank Mitchell had for sale one of the prototype 1966 300M badges. As expected, the price was obscene. So, yes, I would feel safe in saying Chrysler had tentative plans for a 300M but what engines I don't know.

Rather that post on a cool build thread Ill post here. There are 1970 C body V code cars. B, E and A had the Hemi by factory or sub contractor builds. Is there an literature or anyone know why there weren't any Hemi C's offered by the factory? All the mix and match parts were there. Was this a warranty thing, lack of AC in a luxury car???Wondering whats out there on the subject.

A v code eliminates AC (air cleaner issue), so if having AC in a luxury car was the reason behind no Hemi, it doesn't hold water so to speak. AC was not an option with a hemi in any other line.

68 charger w booster to clear the valve cover.
