Ok so who thinks $2500 for the '72 monaco wagon is a fair price to offer translucent man and throw in the hose? This car is interesting to me but would have to be a bargain.

The coupe seller must've inadvertently added a "zero" to the asking price of $730.00...must be a typo. Or, maybe he is a delusional idiot.

When people look over my cars, for some reason, that black 73 Monaco wagon, loaded, seems to be the vehicle most want to buy. If I sell it, I will have about 6 people hating me! I would consider selling it to you, but it needs a paint job (but Carsten wouldn't agree), and I know you are retired now. So that won't work!

the original paint is still nice (considering it being original).
It doesn't need paint. It is original only once.

So I an just offer to take off another not so much wanted by others car from your hands Steve

Carsten

No one can really be this stupid, right?

1972 DODGE MONACO

One Owner in Fair condition with all service records of maintenance service. $ 7,300 or best offer.

Since the seller doesn't show a rear view of the car, he must be hiding something!
...

The $7,300 must include the land as well.

Are there any pics of this gem around here? The last couple of years the Station wagons have become my favorites.

Here is one photo of it in the garage..........

I guess some professional buffing would make that old paint absolutely acceptable, at least from what I see.

It would be nice to see some pics of this bad boy outside! Maybe all the others too lol

Dave

I hear you, but if I take it outside, I will very likely buff the wagon up and make it look really good, as Carsten is probably correct, it will look better than I think. And then the half dozen people that want it will start over in earnest to let me know I have to sell it only to them! It and my Cuda seem to be the favorites among the visitors for some reason??? And here am I, a 70 - 71 Chrysler 300 two door fanatic and a Forward Look fan.

So is it valid to flag CL ad's for being too stupid?

I am not sure what your point is? As far as I know, there is no prohibition in posting C body related listings on this site - in fact, isn't it one of the purposes? My point in posting the listing is that I find the 72-72 Monacos among some of the best designs ever. This Craigslist ad is regrettable because someone might actually want to save that car if the price were not so stupid.

I would just like to see more pics! I've been doing lots of google searches and really not too many cars come up, let alone any detail pics, like what Dodge did with that woodgrain application on the sides of those cars. From the little I have seen I am very impressed.

There just isn't too many of these cars left and with the condition that yours appears to be in is why all those Mopar crazed guys want it. Can't see how I blame them.

Please post up some eye candy for us!

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, I was referring to the original Craigslist posting you referenced, not your post. I was agreeing with your sentiment.

Thanks for your insight Dave. I will do my best to get some more photos of it, and cleaned up more. I am curious just how nice it will look myself. It only has some 62K miles on it, has the 440 dual snorkel standard engine that came in those models, dual a/c, cassette player on the trans hump along with AM/FM stereo and of course the power windows and much more - in other words, very loaded. It even has an excellent dash pad, even though it is a black interior and is a California rust free wagon.

Regarding the original CL ad -

I often wonder if disillusioned sellers like that merely base their asking price on some obligation they have - credit card bill, back taxes, medical bill, vig to a bookie, etc. And they think 'I'll sell the car, it's worth every penny toward what I owe, and it'll sell quick because it's a classic'. :realcrazy:
