hesitation under load.

The shame is I was hoping to try to check out the "Chevy New Yorker" at the same time. I have a condition which can make driving uncomfortable sometimes... so I don't do too many trips these days and try to get the most out of any trip.

Well.. Carb kit showed up. Just finished rebuilding the eddy, and bolted it back on. Didn't fix a damn thing. WTF!!

Could the distributor be going out? It can't be fuel related now (I don't think). FML

Hmm, when you put the accelerator pump in, was it a canvas unit or rubber? Canvas ones need to be soaked in oil first before fitting.

Pretty sure it is rubber. The old one, aside from being a little dirty, did not look bad..

What is the origin of this dist. Is it a Mopar Performance one of lets say ~10 years old or it is a reman parts store... any idea?

I'll have to look in the day light tommarow, but I'd say a store reman off the top of my head.

I would take a stab at the vacuum advance canister and tighten it up 3/32nd allen wrench turn CCW maybe 1 1/2 turns and try it out. Thats my best guess. Another thought would be too lean on cruise main circuit but I kind of doubt it on a near stock engine.

Are you thinking about Daytona? If what Dave said doesn't change things I might be able to work through some of this with you over the phone. Texting is better if I am at work and I never have my ringer on unless I'm expecting a call. I hate to see you beating your head on this issue... just as a thought, why don't you start with pulling the spark plugs and see if they look similar to each other... if they are very white at the tips that would indicate lean, if they are not similar in appearance... well maybe you got a bad one... I find its harder and harder to find a box of eight that hasn't got at least one damaged. Color of the tips matters, black and powdery is rich....they should be a light brown or grey...greenish or reddish is just markers from fuel companies or additives don't worry about those they are same as seeing tans. Be sure to keep the plugs in order, if you have questions about them, take pictures...and if they are not factory original part numbers try a new set of correct plugs just to start over from the beginning.

Got fed up, and took the car over to a buddies place. Finally the car is back up and running. Turned out to be a couple plug wires. I was/am embarrassed as hell lol.

He also did some tuning to the carb, and played with the timing a bit. Much better! Luckily he is very knowledgeable on old mopars. He was happier then hell to work on an old chrysler, as it has been forever.

All that matters is that she runs good now. I mixed up a couple wires once on a late night tune up on my vehicle... just couldn't figure it out at the shop but had put it on a 4 gas emission tester and knew something was off. 5 mile ride home, every time it went under load it had a nasty, power robbing "stutter"... babied it home and rechecked by flashlight. I know the feeling of shame...and no one else even knew.

Call me if you're at Daytona today... we are going up around noon.

Don't be embarrassed. Everyone has a story like that. I won't share mine.

I am happy its up, and running again. Just needed another set of eyes on it I guess. I did feel like one idiot though haha
