Where there is smoke there is fire. I prefer first hand accounts...

Thank you Fred, I invited Krautmaster to join us here about four years ago. He had said he would and I believe he did sign on but never did post. Damn shame too, he's full of first hand knowledge as to what really happened to those CHP cars while in the mechanics hands and can tell you with certainty what the REAL story was

I couldn't imagine doing those speeds in a modern car let alone one that vintage. I chicken out once I get north of 90 mph :eek:ld_school:

I was doing 100 on the GSP Friday night in the Challenger in the right lane. Trooper went by me with other traffic in the 3rd lane.... I just shook my head a little and kept on it. The new cars are impressive power high speed machines

And one hotly contested "fake" in Canada that is supposedly another French car?
Do i remember that correctly?

I met a guy in central Phoenix in an industrial around 85, he had one of the real deal cars. As we looked at his collection (yeah he had alot of cudas). We discussed what makes a restored car or how little of a rare car can one start with and rebuild it. We came to the conclusion if you have most of the original cowl, seemed to be popular belief at that time.

More clarification. I am now digging up info that it was a white 71 Hemi Cuda convertible that showed up from France out of thin air

And some interesting stuff.

Happen to remember the magazine? I've been looking around tonight as this has re-sparked interest in any new info.

I seem to recall the two France cars being in a magazine

Anyone know of a registry?

There is a new book In Search of the Holy Grail about the Hemi E body convertible that was just published in limited release.

At this year's Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) show, 27 Hemi E body convertibles were in attendance.
