I'm not getting rid of this one anytime soon. Had it for 14 years and it's worth double what I paid for it.

But if you were I think now might be the time to do it. With the current DEF shortage, those older pre-DEF trucks just gained 10% in value.

The tax on a $100K price tag will not just turn away some buyers that have been priced out of the market, but the new charge will even be a be a surprise, and likely an unwelcome tax, to those can afford it. People who are able to afford the tax certainly watch their money, and where it goes too. Saying those people won't care about the added cost is an asinine statement.

Asinine: "extremely stupid or foolish." That was not very nice to say, especially since you subtly changed my words to make your point: I did not say that "people won't care about the added cost", I said "I somehow doubt that anyone who can fork out $100k for a car/truck is gonna care much about that extra amount" (emphasis added).

Let me follow up with a question: do you really believe that folks will be "priced out" if they were previously paying $101k but will now be paying $101.2k, or were paying 110k but will now be paying $112k?

As for the tax being unwelcome, I agree that the folks hit by it will likely not be very happy. Well, in theory, I can see some folks actually welcoming it: there is a long line of literature in economics that suggests imposing such a tax may in some cases have the opposite effect of the one you submit IF (key assumption) people like to signal their wealth through conspicuous consumption of expensive goods. Luxury cars are often used as an example. Now, I grant you that folks who drive C-bodies may not be the best examples of such people (otherwise, we might be driving something else).

I am sure there are plenty of C Body owners that have expensive toys, and can afford more expensive automobiles if they wanted. I know of a few that already own these. To assume C body owners are not the best example, in asinine.
I only meant that folks who drive C-bodies are self-confident in what THEY like and do not signal their wealth through their car choices. That’s all. I guess I should go back to writing school to lean to be be clearer. On this, I am out.

I see I got deleted again by the raging mods since their opinion is the only one that counts. BS as usual.

No you were talking politics which is not allowed on this forum and your comment was deleted by the site owner. He left the thread open instead of deleting the whole thing.

I haul scrap from a dodge dealership. I go there weekly.
For whatever the reason, covid, chip shortage, supply chain, etc. There are NO new vehicles to sell!!! The lots are empty!!!!!! They get very few new delivery cars every month.
Maybe 3 to 5 cars a month.
They park employee and customers cars on lot just to make it look full. It’s the same at Ford and Toyota. The salesmen and parts managers tell me that they have stacks of back orders for cars and parts. The last dodge 3500 I saw on the lot was 88K US. I wouldn’t worry about paying tariffs if you can’t even buy the products. I will continue to drive my 98 3500 with 400k miles. ………………..FJB

There's a simple solution to this problem, but apparently we aren't worthy. We can't have the same choices as the other sites, makes no sense, and to me, is insulting.

As for a Hellcat, I'm still trying to win the lottery, but I'd be pissed if I had to pay one penny over what the sticker price is, no matter how much I had in the bank.

Given the workload the site owner and moderators have to deal with given all the sites involved, they probably decide on the available choices for the various sites based on the amount of vitriol that they have to put up with from each one.

As lovers of C bodies, this group is probably in the oldest average age range and as such, older folks often don't care anymore about who they trash or what they say that offends because they might feel free from restraints now that many are retired and their minds have long ago been made up about their beliefs and they are just going to say what they think.

Hence this site gets its set of rules that might differ from others from likely younger age groups who still might consider alternative views and be respectful and not go after the owners/moderators with such a vengeance.

If you don't like it here, then there is still the Drydock if that interests you and you find it worth visiting on a regular basis. I don't so I do my best (sometimes I too inadvertently cross the line and my posts get taken down but I harbor no ill will since I screwed up) to tow the line here and respect the great site that the owner and moderators have created with a lot of hard work. I still feel that we are guests on their forum and as such we should respect their rules. Yes, I am up there in age now that I am approaching 75 in a few months, but I am still young at heart and enjoy people still and feel the need to be respectful and thankful for everything in life that comes my way because I still enjoy life and respect my creator too. Otherwise I would not be content and still be able to work on my cars with a strong will to still get things done. When my time is finally up, I just want to make sure my soul was never allowed to get old - its a choice we can make.

Of all my friends that I spend the most time with, not a single one is less than 20 years younger than me. That is how I want to generally keep it.

In my County I bet there are less than 25 new Ford, Ram, GM, trucks on the lots. And this County is 99% agriculture.
