Anyone have experience with hirsch engine paint? It went on and looks beautiful. How long does it take to dry before i can handle it, put my engine back together? Its still tacky after 2 hours.
Patience grasshopper! Good things come to those who wait! How long does it take to dry before i can handle it, put my engine back together? Its still tacky after 2 hours.
BeautifulMine was brushed on (I would have sprayed on the valve covers, but I'm going for chrome as you can see) ; Hirsch Chrysler Red (correct for 1966 Canadian Windsor-built 440s).

I read up on the rubber and it said to primer the rubber parts and all steel sheet metal. The one area I had a problem with was the rubber grommets, the paint was still tacky after a week, I stripped the paint off and sprayed them with some Mopar engine paint that I had left over, it was dry within 20 min.
I just got a reply from Hirsch. They said i should be able to handle it in 48-72 hours, but let it cure for 14 days before running the engine. It takes a long time. I am very happy with it, but have patience is all I can advise.
A friend of mine painted his valve covers with no primer and had a problem with the grommets, I used a primer and still had an issue, I hope this won't be the case for you, let us know.I read up on the rubber and it said to primer the rubber parts and all steel sheet metal.

Yeah, we dont often get below 50% humidity in VATakes awhile, dry air environment speeds the process. Hirsch is my go to for engine paint.
What did you do for those manifolds?Beautiful
Hahaha. I could actually use the bbq for something.I used VHT manifold paint, and baked them in the barbecue.
