The hood on my 72 is difficult to lift and stay up. It was difficult to close so I lubed it up and it was fine last year except up by the windshield you had to push down on the hood about an inch or so just to get the close not hard pressure. Now it’s all out of whack when it goes up I’m thinking it needs springs but where do you find springs for these hinges? Should I just go with a heavy duty spring that’s for 70s GM product?
I don’t think anything’s bent.

Springs don't normally get weaker with age, as the hoods don't cycle between open and closed that much. BUT then can wear at the pivot points. Start with a good penetrating oil at the pivot points to get things loosened up. So it's easier for the springs to "do their job" in keeping the hood open and easy to close. Getting the latch correctly adjusted is a part of this, too.
