Hi Y’all
I’m currently shopping for a C body. I haven’t bought anything yet, but i have a lot of cars saved and i am narrowing it down. I currently own a 74 Road Runner and an active member over at For B-Bodies Only. I joined here so i could get help decoding a vin of one of the cars i am looking at. I will post that thread in the appropriate section of this forum. Here is a picture of the Mopar I currently own.

What year and flavor C body do you have in mind?

66 Sport Fury

Or
1964 Chysler Newport.

I haven’t decided yet. Also on the list but may drop off are

1971 Chrysler Newport
1971 Ford LTD
1969 Caddilac El Dorado
1969 Oldsmobile Tornado
1968 Ford Torino GT
1962 Mercury Monterey S-55

How hard is it going to be to find parts for the 66 Sport Fury? I did some surfing on the web for the usual places I go, and Dantes is the only one that looks like they have some things, but not a lot. Classic Industries and Year One are a solid nope. If i get this car it’s going to need restoration, it looks like everything is there but I don’t know what kind of shape its in?

I have a 64 New Yorker. I do like the car more than my 72 New Yorker. And I preferer the smaller size.
Some things about the 64 you may have already given some consideration to are the push button cable shift setup can be a pain, and the front driveshaft joint uses a slip joint not a u joint. I swapped in a later 727 trans and driveshaft with floor ratchet shifter to cure both.
Front seats from a 2001 Buick Lesabre (and other GM cars) provided Buick factory head restraint and 3-point seat belts built as part of the seats.
Disc setup from a 78 Cordoba with dual master cylinder rounded out the missing essentials.
I see no concession with the tapered rear axle shaft hubs.
The heater core mounted on the engine side of the fire wall on the a/c cars is a snap to replace. That leaves the usual under dash stuff as the only major pain on the car.

I also have a 67 Toronado. It's a lovely driving car. Easy to work on. All body and interior parts are bought used, or you don't get them. All the running parts come new from many sources.

The 4 years with my 71 Ford Galaxie were overwhelmingly good. Smooth, quiet easy driving car.

That’s funny that you mention that. I called this morning on the 66 Fury and it was sold. Now i am looking at a 69 Toronado.

Best to get a clean 100 percent ready to go one. Because body and interior parts are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Fortunately, nice clean ready to go Toros are not expensive cars compared to the other collectable darlings.
Definitely DO get one with the front disc brake option!

The blue one?
I can't think of any other 2 door big block 69 cars in that condition with that much standard equipment for that price.
3-point seat belts, disc brakes, collapsing steering column, up front differential weight for crashing. Probably as safe as you're going to be in a 69.

The disc brakes are a brakes and wheel package.

Yes. Needs front seat upholstery. Paint repair on passenger side A Piller, fender emblems (T broken), and passenger headlight door missing a square. Thats all i can find wrong with it. I talked to the dealer today and we went over all the pictures and talked about the car. He is going to the owner (consignment) with a $9200 offer. I should know something today. The ac has been converted and blows cold too. Those are original miles too 67k. Is there a good Toronado Forum?

There is an abundance of good info available for the old Toros. But I don't visit them much because the cars are very intuitive. That and they don't need much in the way of improvements. Other than the rear axle hops in a panic stop.
But it does help to know what's going on under the dash before tearing into it.

Yeah, I read in an original road and track article from back in the day that the brakes also aren’t that good. They tend to overheat, and fade quickly, under hard use. Also the 69 has a cool feature in the headlights. The doors are actually grills that open to expose the headlights and a second grill. Also when the water temperature of the engine reaches 225F. The headlight door’s automatically open to allow more airflow to the radiator.

I changed the rear brake wheel cylinders for smaller diameter ones. That helped a lot.
My 67 has ceramic disc brake pads and stops very well know. It takes several 60 to 10 stops to heat them up.
