Hello! I found a 1967 Plymouth Sport Fury that I am interested in. How is part availability? The particular car I’m looking at looks turn key and doesn’t look like it needs any new interior bits.

I found a Reddit thread from someone who mentioned that lots of websites at the time had parts for Fury I-III but that the Sport trim wasn’t really an option.

Asking as I am a novice and I don’t want to buy it and get in over my head. Thank you!

This is the place to find them...... parts that is........"Sport Fury specific" items can be a trick to turn up, but it's like that with most of the C-body models...... welcome to this list.

Personally, I don't see the possible concerns. Seats, carpets, headliner, and door panels have all been done in non-stock materials. I like the Cordoba buckets, but the back seat could have better matched the OEM Cordoba items. Concerns about the orange silicone on the trans pan gasket area. Not "in love" with the Cragar wheels, but that's just me.

Car looks very good, like a complete and well-done restoration. Chrome traction bars are a bit much and generally not needed with the Chrysler rear spring design. Just insure it well.

What was done to the engine? I'd also be concerned if it was a real "Sport Fury", via the VIN.

Just some thoughts,

As a novice, I'd suggest you stay away from that one. For that much money, I would expect that the interior wouldn't be doctored up with a crappy dash and steering wheel covers to cover the cracked originals. Way too much spray on undercoating and a failing paint job. AC car, but it's all missing. Leaky rear end. That's just a quick look too. Not the stock color, the OE red has no metallic flakes and truthfully, if it's failing in one spot, it's gonna fail in others sooner or later. (probably sooner)

Those chrome traction bars are signs that whoever worked on it is a GM guy as they do less than nothing on a Mopar.

But if you really want it, mechanical parts are fairly easy to come by. No reproduction body parts and you are going to be on your own figuring out where those interior stuff came from and matching that paint is gonna be tough.

I think you could find something nicer and have money left over. Place a want ad here and take a run to Chryslers at Carlisle for a look at the car corral.

When I looked at the link, seeing that it is with a multi-merchandiser "broker", I didn't look at the selling price or other things. I did see the paint issue picture (better now that I have cleaned my glasses!) and THAT might be an issue down the line. I also noticed the deep spray can undercoat, which is thicker than Chrysler ever did it. THAT can be hiding something, too. I noticed the "dash cover", but was not that concerned about it, especially if it was done "years ago" by a trim shop who might not have known they could be re-done to look as they should look.

When looking at ANY pictures from a broker/seller, you'll always notice that the cars have been well-detailed and waxed so they look good "under the lights". They can look different in the real light of day, many times. In many cases, they can look better in the pictures than they should.

I concur that you might find something better at Chryslers @ Carlisle this year, especially with them celebrating the 100 Years of Chrysler there this year. Might even venture to Mopar Nats in August, too! At the Nats, there usually is a big tent for "Survivor" cars that are still pretty much how they were produced, plus their Concours judging tent, where you can get to watch their judging activities and such. Yep, take some vacation days and enjoy!!! Might even see some people from this forum at Carlisle, too!

With respect to that particular car, it would probably get some award at a weekend cruise event, but in a more serious judging event, probably not. IF that is a desire.

As to the "getting in over your head" issue, you need to find out just what has been done to the engine, the transmission, etc. While parts are available to fix those things, it can also get expensive quickly. The hidden bodywork can be problematic, sometimes. That crack in the paint didn't happen for no reason!

Your money, your dreams, spend wisely after further investigation . . .

In general you’ll be able to find any parts that are common with B bodies. Suspension and drivetrain are easy to obtain. Brakes less so if it has factory discs, and almost all exterior trim and interior pieces are used only. You can get carpet, package trays, the sail panels, and if you want to wait a year, I understand door panels and seatcovers are available too.
