1957 Dodge Sweptwing Pickup. Only a few left. Needs full restoration. Has 1968 Dodge 383 engine and transmission. Including Power seats and steering, not hooked up. Sides of bed are damaged. I have new replacement weld in panels with it. All trim pieces are there, except 3 straight on passenger side. The engine runs sweet. the 3-speed transmission is not hooked up to the push button selector. I has nice bucket seats and consul from a Ford Eddie Bauer Van, not installed. Windshield is cracked. Rear wrap around window is nice. 5 good tires. See Pics. More pics are available to serious buyers. I am asking $4,500.00 OBO, Thank You for looking. Roger 916-826-3134

This is a kool truck however the bed has always seemed so shallow on them.

These trucks were built in 57 and 58 using 1956 Dodge station wagon 1/4 panels. The cabs were totally different between the 57 and 58 models.... 57 was probably the better looking of the two years.

Theres a 58 in a salvage yard near hear but they are pretty proud of it.

I saw this movie one night called "Forbidden Planet", I think it was made way back in the 50's. There was this goofy robot driving around in a cart/truck that reminds me of this truck alot. The styling cue's are reminiscent of some of the stuff in the movie. The movie itself sucked big time but we got a good laugh out it sitting there late that night.

That's a cult classic actually and I've seen it many times. Robot's name was Robby, the Robot.

Yeah..you are quite right actually. I've seen "Lost in Space" re,re,re,re, reruns here and there, and yup it is the same robot. Guess the union found him work after the movie, lol.

My CRS kicked in a little there .. he was on it at least once but i think it was a one off or infrequently. The other robot that was on all the time was B9

I see...they ARE very similar. Easy to mistake one for the other. I guess I've been "Star Wars"-ized......so anything science fiction from the "FP" period seems extremely..."hokie" to my eyes. Even the movie poster is a laugh. George Lucas is STILL...STILL, selling stuff from the original Star Wars movie which came out in what, 79-80?? ...and then you have Aliens, Predator, blah blah.. My all time favorite though is 2001: A Space Odyssey. I like it because the hardware LOOKs like it is designed by engineers and designers who have real experience in those areas, rather than designed by people who would have you believe space vehicles need wings..and design all sorts of useless doodads and garbage that's not at least based partially on reality.

Yeah agree with you on the hokey stuff from the 50's but you've got to give them a little slack .. no one had been in space yet :). Concur 2001 was a huge leap in space sci fi

The slack is given...they were in "imagineering" mode at the time....I get it. The audiences today are more more sophisticated than at those times.

I used to love the "Buck Rogers" space ship. When traveling through space the sparks and smoke from the back would shoot out and then go UP...... And when the light was just right you could see the cables holding it up.

I was glad they did that instead of trying to make me believe it was real.

Concur I was amazed at the imagery when I went to see the first Star Wars movie and I always liked sci fi movies about space. Cool thing .. my daughters (17) and I have been watching the original star trek series. They want to start at the beginning on everything they watch and they want to watch all the series and films in sequence. When they watched the first episode (pilot) of Star Trek they were very impressed with the artwork and the opening scenes

flew glimpses here in the opening credits of season 2

I prefer the "Next Generation Star Trek" to the original series......although I never like Jean Luc Picard. I like Kirk much better. Can't have everything I guess.
