I am going on a ride in a B-17

I am jealous. I'd love that opportunity. If you are over 5 foot 6, make sure you duck. They are cramped.

Someday I am going to pony up the bucks to do this. Growing up we would find a few aluminum parts of one in our pasture. One had crashed in a neighbor’s field back in the ‘50’s. The neighbor also had one of the prop blades with the crews names on it. He was supposed to be plowing that field, but it looked like it was going to storm, so he quit for the night. I was always interested in the plane and models after that.

The "Ball Turret Gunner" had to be one of the scariest function on a B-17!! Great pictures!

The sound of those radial engines is a wonderful thing. Put a pair of ear muffs on and enjoy

Did they also give you a briefing on the Browning M2 in case ME109 or FW190 blow out of the clouds? ;))
Many THX for the story and pictures!

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most people. Very jealous. I have very fond memories of going to airshows every year with my father. Since we lived down south close to Pensacola Florida we always went to see the blue Angels. And then when I was stationed in Virginia, i used to take my kids every year to the air show there as well. I enjoyed then very much. Thanks for sharing your experience
