Always avoided the 72s....thanks for the clarification......

I need to be clear....if i were to locate a 72 polara police car, there is no chance of that car having a 400 with a 4 barrel?

I was thinking the same thing last night, so I went back to the dealer information I have and found that it contradicts itself, saying that only the 400-2 bbl was available as an option in those models, but in looking at the axle chart, it shows a 400-4 bbl special axle ratio. Then I went to the Autozone site, however accurate that might be, and it says 24% of the Polara models had the 400-4 option and none on the Monaco. Whether it was a police only option or something, I do not know, but I would wonder whether they sold that many police units proportionately. I will see if I can find something further. Interesting.

One other interesting thing about that car, it does not have that brocade cloth on the seats that I thought all Monacos had, so in looking at the Hamtramck Registry library, the Monaco did have the plain cloth as an optional seat material, but shows it only in the cloth options page and not on the seat styles illustrations, which may be why I have never seen another one like this - it was hard to tell it was available from the photos of the seats in the trim selector. Trivial stuff though.

With the rust it has, I think it is overpriced some. I wonder why the engine looks like it has been painted the wrong color blue - has it been out for some reason I wonder?

Ford Blue engine - Chevrolet Orange/Red cleaner to my eyes.
AKA. whatever Dupli-color Autozone had on the shelf.

I'd bet they were "available" even if the basic sales literature say they werent.

A very famous C body Dodge article was written and within that article the writer/designer says no 440 hp's were available in the full size dodge in 70/71. We all know better

The police brochure for 1972 show's the 400 4bbl. available in both B and C bodies, this is backed up in Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler Police Cars book.
