I went to start Shamu, my 69 Fury III vert and the key would not go into the lock cylinder. It worked on the door lock. I tried to insert the key from Elwood (68 Fury II 4 door sedan) and it didn’t work either.
I spent some time applying PB blaster, and used a straightened cotter pin with no joy.
I suspect that the lock cylinder is worn to the point where the tumbler pins are work / getting stuck. I had to jiggle / insert the key a couple of times in the past to get the key to go all the way in.
I am likely going to remove the ignition switch, per the FSM, but wanted to post the situation with the hope of someone replying with a simpler trick / way without pulling the lower dash panel.
Alternatives to the FSM method are appreciated in advance...
