Hi, Chuck58 here. I just picked up a 1965 Sport Fury. For sitting in the weeds for the last 5 years it is in remarkable shape. The hunt is now on for parts and information on this car. I have been a Mopar man for 40 years. I have owed mostly A and B body and currently have a 1950 Plymouth Deluxe in the shop for some upgrades. This is my first C body since high school and I can't wait to get it on the road. Right now I am in need of a fuel tank and sending unit. A fellow C body enthusiast recommended this site. It was a valuable resource for him in finding parts for his 71 Fury. I have no decent pictures of my 65 but will post some soon. if anyone has a solution for a unrepairable fuel tank for a 1965 Sport Fury I would love to hear from you.

Welcome aboard! I do really like the 65/66 Fury's.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! I know there are a bunch of '65 FURY guys on the site that'll be able to help you out.

Hello from the bottom of the state! Detmatt is correct that there are plenty of 65 Fury guys here. Look forward to seeing your car.

Welcome. You will not be able to find a new tank. You have 2 options and I will have to look up the specifics: You can have yours restored I believe around $400, can be any condition. Cheaper option $100 a smaller 20 gallon, for a 70 Challenger and of course the sending unit for that tank too, will fit.
Have been told it is narrower, so if you were going to add dual exhaust you have more room.

Thanks for the info on what else will fit. Curious about how the filler tube will work as the 70 challenger filler neck is in a different spot so I am assuming where it goes into the tank is also different. I would like to know more about restoring the old tank. This one is as rough as I have ever seen.

Here are some pics of my 65 Sport Fury as I found it. It is a 383 2bbl car, AT with console shifter. It looks like an 8 3/4 RE. I was guaranteed it was a posi but have not verified. did they use 8 3/4 REs in 65?. I did get the motor to run and it sounded good. As I stated a fuel tank is needed along with the normal repairs needed on a car of this vintage. Looking forward to getting it on the road.

Sorry about the bad info on the new tank. Try the measurements on a 1970 Roadrunner tank. The guy used the same filler neck from his c-body. I was thinking is was almost exactly the same length same locations for both the filler neck and sending unit.

Here was the thread some other good info including someone who had use the Moyer tank restoration.
