Is my 14yo daughter crazy?? Should I be worried ?? :)

Also nothing like the smell of vinyl interior on a warm summer day, brings me right back to when I was 17 again.
I still remember falling asleep in the back seat of my dad's 72 New Yorker and waking up with the material pattern ingrained on my face....memories.

OH and Bondo. Don't like it much for it's intended purposes but man, love that smell.

It's always good to hear about children that are outside the box so to speak. Most seem to grow up and have no other skills other than how to use their phone.Your girl sounds like my sister when we were kids. Her first car was a motorcycle...Then later all her cars or trucks had to be sticks,to this day.She is now 64.

Well I picked up the NYer in June of 15 and all four of my kids have been hooked since then; ages 2, 4, 7, & 8. My oldest sat and watched as I was rebuilding the carb. She asked me what the different parts were and then later when I asked her she told me what they all were. Last summer wile I was swapping tires out my 4yr son rolled the old ones outside for me. All of the kids like to go for rides. Last summer my 2 yr old daughter would come running and say vroom vroom to tell me that she wanted to take the NYer where ever we were going.

I hear you guys, my loves are planes, (WWII nut) Trains, (now you know why I worked at the railroad all these years), and automobiles, (Chrysler's especially). Now throw in some beautiful ships and that is heaven.

I'm glad you mentioned that (about sticks). My daughter is great at driving thus far, and Delilah will be her "fun" car, but I'm fortunate in that I can get a company car for her to use and I will be ordering a 2018 Compass with a stick for her for a couple of reasons...
1) Better understanding of how a car handles/responds to driver inputs
2) CAN'T TEXT AND DRIVE AND SHIFT!
3) If she's ever stranded somewhere and all that's available is an old stick shift to get out of trouble.
4) Most importantly, just to be cool. I mean, c'mon...as a guy, aren't you impressed when you know a woman can drive a manual transmission? One of the things I love about my wife.

That's awesome ! Nice NY'er too btw! I had a 68 300...loved that car.

That's a great set of interests! I want to put in a railroad level crossing gate across my driveway entrance and put in a little LIONELVILLE crossing guard shack to use as a bus stop for the kids. And as far as the WWII planes....I always thought the P38 Lightning was sexy as heck!

My wife can barely keep her car from looking like a trash heap BUT refuses to drive anything but stick shift.... all is forgiven.

That is great, it is cool seeing the new generations getting into old cars.

A great story here about a young girl that wanted to purchase a Fierro at 12 and have it restored by the time she turned 16.
12 year olds and cars - Kathryn's Fiero

No kids of my own but with 7 nieces and nephews I figured I have at least one, number 3 wanted to help from the point she could speak, my Barracuda shell was stored in their garage and she wanted to help put the steering wheel in, the seats, the things a very young child could relate to. When she was 10 I was in full swing on the restoration, that summer she spent every other weekend helping with one thing or another.

Now in the Marines she still calls this car hers.

"The fun I had experienced in making things as a boy was magnified a hundred fold when I began making things as a man. There is in manufacturing a creative joy that only poets are supposed to know. Some day I'd like to show a poet how it feels to design and build a railroad locomotive."

One of my favorite quotes. I hope my daughter and any future kids will be the same way.

No knocking MTH...they're high quality units at a MUCH better price. That's why Lionel used them for so long.

Once I get my polebarn set up the way I want it, I'll send pics along. It's going to take the summer to get it there. I had to tear out a wall in my Chrysler area as it was 2 separate rooms that I converted back into one large room. But now, I have to build storage shelves and a work bench. I have so much Chrysler stuff to hang up (banners, pennants, signs, etc). I need to be careful of planning out what goes where.
You've got the important stuff done. HEAT AND A/C. I have yet to make those two improvements in the new ponderosa here in Wilmington, N.C.(2 walls had to be removed) but I had 'um in Chelsea a mile and a half from the proving Groundz and they'll both be added here too very soon. Want a couple tips on building your work bench P.M. Me, Jer

I agree. Then throw in a B17G and you are set.

Now you understand why I admire that man so much.

I'm always open to tipson building ideas. The previous home owner turned the pole barn into am office -type setting... drop ceilings, drywall, hvac, bathroom, kitchen. My wife threatens to have me live in the pole barn if i buy any more cars. I said no problem the kids want to move out there with me too. Lol
