Is the Dodge brand on the verge of extinction?

They are everywhere here..... there is also 3 Dodge dealers 2-10 miles from me too.

Within 10 miles would be Performance Dodge, Mt Ephraim Dodge and Cherry Hill Dodge . Used to be another two until they closed them up

Haven't seent that vintage Dart ad before. Talk about stupid advertising. You don't run a stock motor to 6K on the street. If owners actually ran a 340 at 6K on a regular basis there would have been a ton of warranty claims. That kind of advertising only attracted the attention of goodie 2 shoes politicans and insurance company execs.

Losing Dodge, would be like pulling out any claim to performance. Chrysler doesn't get me all hot and sweaty, but hearing the name DODGE does. Chrysler is the Buick of Mopar. This sucks......

Well looking at three brands I can see right away where the problem is. Chrysler does not have a large menu of cars. In fact Chrysler is smaller than the Dodge lineup. Then when compared to Ford with a wide variety, or something for everyone, I can see how someone could disappear. That is what happened to Mercury as they had nothing in their lineup compared to Ford. Mostly Ford's doing but in the end Mercury disappeared. The goal is to sell cars to a wide audience and I can't see how Chrysler can do that with what they have.

darts

I have seen two on the road .........

You have seen 2 more than I have, I have a 13 Challenger and dont see how you can compare it to a Alfa Romeo built in the US and calling it a Dart. I do not under stand doing away with the Caravan, I have a 03 Town and Country and its a great mini van ( i don't let my friends see me drive it though :BangHead:

Guys that article is bogus IMO, just because the company's plan calls for killing off a few models over the next couple years doesn't mean the brand is going under; obviously they are going to replace those models with new ones. Chrysler is doing great right now, since the Fiat merger/buyout/whatever they have been having the highest sales since before the Daimler takeover. Also the Dodge brand is their primary entry-level marque, without Dodge they would have nothing.

Take my word for it guys, if you want accurate information about Chrysler Corp. coming from people who actually work there check out http://www.allpar.com... Newspaper articles about cars are rarely true and are mostly hype, to be honest.

Goes the Dart sell well?
I don't think so. How many are sold compared to Toyotas from the same class?

That was the mindset back in the day......

Darts didn't have factory tachometer's in 1969 and most people added aftermarket Sun Tach's mounted on the steering column. Even though you could wind up a stock 340 to 6 grand......I don't think too many if anybody was actually winding up stock 340's on a regular or daily basis. That 1969 340 was a pretty stout motor with 10.5:1 pistons, 2.02" intake valves and a decent cam. Dual exhaust. Very nice for a stock small block in a very light car!
