Is the hitch a factory option?

You would have to decode the fender tag. I don't know what the tow package code is for your car. Another indicator for a tow package is having a Sure Grip rear. Jack up the rear end and turn the rear wheel. If both tires turn the same direction it's a Sure Grip. If one tire turns the other direction it's open rear. However it's possible to add a trailer hitch at the dealer or an aftermarket hitch.

For the '71 models, the hitch would have been dealer or aftermarket installed. The actual hitch wasn't included in the towing package until '74.

Thanks Doug. Is 1974 the first year for tow packages for all Mopars?

For '68 the sales brochure and the operators manual both include a trailer towing package, and show the list of items that it includes, but the equalizing hitch itself sounds like a dealer item.

The operators manual shows the hitch and all parts, with vague instructions for installation.

Tow packages were available earlier and included things like upgraded radiators, suspension, tires, electrical components et al but not the actual hitch. The hitch was a dealer or aftermarket the owner had to purchase separately. 1974 is the first time I can find the actual hitch was included in the A34 or A35 tow package.
