What is the sedan in this photo, please? I am not up on 70s sedans but am curious to identify this. It seems to be 4 door sedan with fixed quarterlights and like a Monaco but I'm not sure.

Thanks
David

That would be a 1974-5 Dodge C-body Monaco 4dr sedan with the optional front door vent windows.

75 to 77 royal monaco,
Yes Royal Monaco. Dodge in the same years had a Monaco that was a B body 2 door.
They had several versions such as the 2 door Coronet,Charger Sport,Monaco. Those are what I remember they may have had even more. Chrysler was doing strange things in the mid/late 70's being on the brink of bankruptcy.

In 1974, per the dealer order guide I found at Hamtramck-Historical, the C-body Dodge was just "Monaco" and "Monaco Custom". B-body Dodges were still Coronets until they became "Monacos" and the similar Plymouths became "Small Fury". As the C-body became Gran Fury. Maintaining name lineage in the process.

Do you think they were trying to confuse people or is it just me that finds it confusing...................

"Royal Monaco" had debuted for the 1972 model year, but they went back to normal "Monaco" for '74. Which tended to de-elevate their top model a bit, I suspect.

Sometimes, marketing "Rhyme and Reason" depends upon WHO is making the decisions that day and what THEY liked or didn't like. NOT always based on logic, by observation. AND Chrysler Corp paid LOTS of money for those decisions, one way or another!

Love the duals on the 4 door, straight back, no nonsense (440?). I get lots of mileage correcting people that I have a "Gran Fury" not just a Fury. Corporate running out of names in the late 70's is just too amusing. They could have kept Satellite and Coronet till the B bodies faded in 78 for the 4 doors/wagons. RR and Charger for performance 2 doors with "magnum" as a sub branch of Charger line.

there was no royal monaco in 72 or 73 for that matter. fwiw, ive had 69, 70 and multiple 72 monacos. 75 was the 1st year, my dad had a 74 monaco brougham, followed by a 76 royal monaco brougham ( both new).

Sorry, I was confusing the "concealed headlight" Monacos in the Fuselage years with the later Royal Monacos.

Take care,
