What do a Dak, a Fozzie and a TDI have in common?
Your lack of imagination astounds meThey're all shite?
Yes...too obvious...not correct answer...here is a clueThey all belong to you.
unfortunately no...good question though. You're getting warmerShare the same bolt pattern?
Bing Bing Bing! You get a free pat on the back. These 3 vehicles are all part of the same crazy plan.Part 1- I purchased the 2004 Forester for the princely sum of $350 with a great body, currant inspection sticker and a non running motor.I have owned a bunch of these and suspect it has jumped the timing belt.I will get it running and driving so I can tear the Dakota apart over the winter. Part 2- Tear the Dakota apart over the winter so I can restore it ,blast and paint the frame ,rebuild the trans and transfer case, ect. I want to paint it and fix everything in the interior. You may think that a 1992 Dakota is worthless, but I love this little tank and it's perfect for me.It came from Washington state and has no rust at all, so very worth it. Part 3- the key is the TDI conversion. The 5.2 Magnum is ok at 200K , but it needs to be rebuilt soon.Just something that I am not willing to invest in and it does not fire up my imagination. All parts are available for a price and these swaps are well proven. The goals are equal or a bit better power than the 5.2, total reliability and 30+ MPG @ 65mph. I avoid the interstate as much as possible so high speed aerodynamics shouldn't play much of a roleI paid $600 for the Passat and after I part out a few things the donor parts will be essentially free.I think the parts total for making the necessary changes to the motor, adaptors, tuning, ect. should be around $4000.I should be into the whole project for less than $10,000 for a truck that I love and will last until I cannot drive any longer.Worth it IMHO....opinions pleasebuilding a dak-for-di ?
